Wedding bells for BM

Stepmom_C's picture

Ok so I want to hear stories of whether or not your situation with BM improved or got worse when BM got married. Little background for those who don't know me. DH and I have been married 2 1/2 years. We have my BD14, SD11 and SD6. DH is primary custodian for his 2 and my daughter is with us all the time. BUSY!

Anyway, we've had crazy times especially in the beginning but this year has BY FAR been our best. Boundaries set, I disengaged from BM a while ago and only DH deals with her...it works for us.

Time for Court

So my soon to be SD is now approaching the age of 2. And seeing how her life has changed since I have come in it about nine months ago, my fiancé and I have determined it is time to take the BM to court. It really isn't about him wanting to see his daughter more, he sees her pretty much every day. It is mainly about the lack of structure. As it goes now SD is with us Thursday thru Sunday and during the other days while BM is at work. If fiancé is at work at the same time as BM he has to arrange for some sort of child care and pay for all of the costs.

Blended family - quinceanera or wedding - who walks SD/daughter down the aisle?

Mrs Katch 22's picture

Has anyone attended a quinceanera (like a sweet 16th but for Mexicans)...it's basically like a wedding...or a wedding where the parents were separated? Maybe each parents has already found a significant other or not. My SD already told me that she's expecting my husband to walk her down the aisle, and that her mom wants to walk on the other side. My husband told me that he won't do it because I'm his family now...and so is SD. But I don't know if he'll actually have the balls to tell SD that and if BM will pressure him into doing it.

Has anyone seen the movie "Enchanted?"

Mrs Katch 22's picture

I haven't seen it. SD saw it...she said she didn't like it. Normally she'll elaborate on the story and why or why she didn't like a movie..but she couldn't explain why for this movie. She said it was something about a stepmom, a bio mom, a son, then the daughter finds another man to marry who has a daughter from a previous relationship...

Has anyone seen it? Can you explain the family dynamics and possibly why SD didn't like it? I'm assuming a lot of the characters hit home ...or just disturbed her?

Welcome to the life....of a stepmom

How does one deal with harboring an intense amount of hatred towards an individual; one whose presence is eternal to this lifetime unless a drastic decision is made to rule out the one person you truly love and are in love with to rid your life of the one you despise. One can find comfort in the misfortunes towards this individual, justifying it as karma for all the hell inflicted upon others.

I have three step children, SD 15, SS 16, SS20 and no children of my own.

I am 40 and been wit my husband since I was 25 and while we have argued in the past about the kids and ex-wife, it never has gotten to the point that it is now. - A Wedge between us

I am at my wits end with the lack of appreciation and respect that come from my step kids and for some reason my husband seems to let it be and takes it.

For anyone who has not followed my blog, I met a wonderful man after being divorced 7 years - he has been widowed 5 years. We have lived together 8 months now, and my 3 children do not wamt to be living here.
His older son has moved into a flat with his girlfriend, so we are left in this new house with just his (nearly 17 yr old & my nearly 15 yr old) daughters.

Waffling BM

debiamia's picture

Here we go again with BM changing her mind about SD16. This is the weekend before midterms. SD16 had asked last Thursday if she was going home for a visit to her BM. DH was out of town all week for work and the kid hadn't spoken to me once while he was gone. I told her that she would have to check with her dad as I knew he would be tired from traveling and probably would see no reason for her to go to BM's when she is going there after midterms a few days later. DH agreed and said it was all settled.
