Gave advice

thinkthrice's picture

To neighbor lady next door to one of our rehabs.  She is thinking of moving in with her BF and renting out her house.  I advised AGAINST it!  She is late fifties, semi retired, divorced with grown kids and has been a SM before although not mega drama like most of us have here.   Her BF is late sixties, retired and has grown children as well.   Not sure if he is widowed or divorced.   They seem total opposites.  He is more old fashioned and she seems very independent.

Tried Hiring a Twenty Something

Who already has two kids--single dad-- gets his kids every other week.

Strike one: wanted to get paid up front acting desperate

Strike two: rescheduled the interview at the last minute

Strike three: The day he was to start work--a no show.

I texted him "I take it you won't be coming today"

He responded: "I'll be there in 10 minutes."

Chef Got Told

By selectquote.  Just as you ST posters predicted,  he got turned down due to his shared failed medical exam.

But NOOOOOOO he wouldn't listen to me in the beginning and stop the boozing, possibly using "Big Lou."  He felt that those ads were demeaning (he still thinks the Girhippo wasn't that bad despite her stealing from him, robbing him blind and alienating his children.)

He is still on his health kick but we will see how long it will last.  He can reapply in a year.

Denied!

Life insurance on Chef has been denied due to his boozing.  He's been on a health kick (AFTER the med test and seeing the atrocious numbers).

Vote for next move:

1.  He'll think "F it" and go back to boozing

2.  He'll think "I'd better stay on the straight and narrow due to this wake up call."

I TOLD him to get a policy w/o a med test but he wouldn't listen to my advice as usual.  He has a preconceived notion that life insurance without medical tests will not pay out after death if they figure out you had something all along.

The Expectations (Spin Off on the Implecation)

So my presentation to the town board (which I attended this time; Chef did not but he did cook dinner--and made a mess) partially over turned the planning boards "nay."  They tabled it and said they were very impressed by it and my applicant screening methods.

Fast forward to this morning.   As usual Chef trots out to the rehab, forgets to wheel out the trash toter (I do it as it affects me).  I then get into my heavy sweatshirt and long pants plus gear to weed whack with my commercial grade echo SRM-225 straight shaft string trimmer.

O/T The Implication (Just a Rant)

Background info:  I'm a 62.5 yr old female with a bad shoulder after two surgeries from an MVA.  I also had stage I breast cancer last spring and received radiation treatment in the late summer/early autumn after surgery in June (back to back surgeries with shoulder surgery).  Chef is 8 yrs younger.  He just turned 55.

Updates on Those Who Have Exited StepHELL

thinkthrice's picture

I know some have stayed on this forum past SH and commented, which is a great morale booster to those who are making the right choice to exit themselves.

I know others lurk from time to time.   It would be nice to get updates from some former posters.  I would love to learn, for example, how Simpleton made out post shiftless guilty daddy.

If any of you escapees would like to join in and update, that would be marvelous!
