Semi O/T Chef's Life Insurance Health Tests

thinkthrice's picture

Are in..  His liver enzymes are off the chart.  The high range number was 54.  His was 76.  At first he tried to wave it off (aka poo poo it).  His blood sugar was a bit on the high side as well.  But I think it scared him.   He's now drinking tea instead of knocking back hard liquor drink after drink nightly.  He's requesting healthy foods for dinner too.

I doubt this phase will last.   He goes just as long as he thinks he's out of the woods and then resumes his old bad habits again.   High functioning alcoholic with the all or nothing type personality.

Probably won't be able to get Life Insurance

On Chef.  He has high BP and is taking meds for it (shockingly) after several drs told him he is gonna stroke out.  He also has an incredibly short fuse and is generally a negative person although he seems to go from deleriously happy to mercurial in zero seconds.

He was brutally honest with the medical interviewer who came over on how much he drinks.   She immediately followed the information with: "has a doctor or anyone else asked you to stop drinking alcohol?"

Life Insurance

As a spin off to Esmod's estate planning post, as We get older we realize we are not immortal.  We recently had a neighbor down the street, a very nice and helpful man, diagnosed with esophageal cancer, which is usually a death sentence.  One of my county co workers died of it a few years back with virtually no symptoms.

And also Chef had a recent brush that could have been bad.  A garbage truck completely smashed his parked van but he was not in it.

So we finally got around to getting a term life policy on Chef.

O/T I feel like Marge Simpson

When Homer repeatedly is an embarrassment in public.    Took Chef to a concert recently which happened to be in Girhippoville as there is a very out of place casino venue in that rural country.

We also had dinner at the restaurant there which I figured would be safe seeing the Gir and Pumpkinhead no longer work there.   Nope.  Prices were very high (even Chef noticed--he usually pays no attention to prices and just buys/orders)

Whose BM is this? (LONG)

After less than 9 months I had to not renew with a tenant who I screened very carefully, late forties woman.  She got a great reference from 2 previous LLs back.  He lied--why I don't know as he wasn't her present landlord and wasn't trying to get her out.   Come to think of it, he did kind of sound like a used car salesman and I know he was the actual owner and not just somebody that the tenant put down to pose as the owner.  Maybe was banging her in the past.

Kitchen Wars Are Over VENT

Chef proclaimed that he doesnt like food cooked in my brand new smoker anymore.   He prefers lighter fluid soaked charcoal even though we have a charcoal grill that has a propane tank ignition!!!

Claims all smoked food tastes the same!  From now on he's going back to over buying, over spending and wasting food! .  He doesnt like the way I portion meals, plan meals around what's on sale etc.

Well good because I'm Nooming anyway so I can make small meals and watch my weight while he eats himself to death.

Industrial Strength Turd Polishing

So Chef and I went to DGD's dedication service last Sunday.  DGD is very right handed at 2 yrs old.  Her Dad, Awesomeson, is left handed and Chef is s natural lefty but was switched to right handedness as was the custom of his elderly parents.  Chef is now ambidextrous.

So the subject (somehow--eyeroll) of OSS came up b/c he saw DGD throw a ball in the play room.

"You know I taught Pumpkinhead to hit and pitch left handed...blah blah blah!"

"I'm gonna teach DGD to do the same!"

Well That Didn't Last Long

The struggle for the kitchen turf is back on!  Only 5 months into my semi retirement, getting the kitchen organized, cleaned, FIFOed and meals based on weekly specials, little waste/ cooking for two only, etc, Chef announces he doesn't like his meals this way and wants to go back to channeling his father who would overbuy and cook for their huge family.  Making a terrible mess of the kitchen in the process and wasting scads of food.   His father was also a hoarder.

Pumpkinhead OSS26.5 Buys a House

Unfortunately it is about twenty minutes away from us.  In other words closer to us than to Girhippoville.

Looks like he and his new wife succumbed to FOMA and a month after they get married, they bought the house with her maiden name on it and his name.  They paid about twice what its worth but I guess that's common nowadays.
