So I Found a New MC - One that Specializes in Step Families. He is a Step Parent and even Wrote a Book On it

My DH and I went to a MC last year who started out great. But after about 15 sessions he started falling asleep during our sessions.

The only time he would ever perk up and look really interested is when we would talk about our OSS19 who is gay.

We quit going to him because of the above and he would rarely offer us advice. Maybe one out of every 4 or 5 sessions.

Wish me luck with this new one because I'm about to jump ship on the marriage after enduring so much BS that I can no longer cope with it.

We meet with him tomorrow for the first time.

So, today Fatass SS16 was complaining that he is getting sick with a cold. All the kid does is literally sit or lay every moment he is not in school. He has done this for all the almost 10 years I've been around.

My Sister is also a stepmother to 3 boys. She was here visiting tonight from out of State.

Anyway, She calls them her "pre-birthed" kids. Biggrin I laughed til I had tears in my eyes.

I thought you guys would also get a kick out of it.

Marriage Counselor Falling Asleep During Sessions and Other Crap

So, we've been going to a MC since September, we see him weekly. He started out being very helpful and very much on my side.

I noticed on my second visit there (before H came, he started attending on 3rd visit) that MC would nod off. Our appointment time is always 3:30 and I know this is a time of day that most people experience a slump, but it's getting ridiculous.

I've also noticed that he only offers suggestions about 1 every 5 sessions and that drives e CRAZY. I can talk to my Mom FOR FREE!

So Saturday we are headed to Cancun for the week of Thanksgiving. I know most people think I should be doing back-flips with joy. Well, I would be expect..... the kids are coming along to ruin it. I will also be stuck with them for 3 miserable weeks as the week in Cancun they should be with their horsefaced BM.

Some Good News About Second Marriages w/ Stepshits

I was reading in my Stepmonster book last night, I was pleasantly surprised to read that second marriages with stepshits that can make it to 5 years actually have stronger and longer lasting marriages than even first marriages. Wednesday Martin (the Author) says it's because fighting the battles with the kids and pitfalls of step-parenting actually make your bond stronger. She also mentioned that if you can get past the first three years, you are more likely to make to the five year mark.
