child support question

Chmmy's picture

I've seen a few posts on facebook where stepmoms complain that their DH pays BM CS in cash/check or other method that is not through the state.  That money is then considered a 'gift' and their DH still owed BM her CS even though he paid her unofficially.  I'm not really sure how it works but you have to make it official and not just get a receipt or BM can still come after the BD for the full amount owed.

Sad story for animal lovers...I know there is lots of you out there.

My son, 25 and his girlfriend of almost 10 years have been blessed with a 2 of the cutest, mostly well-behaved(slightly mischievious) bunnies.  They are best friends aka 'baby bunny cuddle buddies'.  They are about 6 months apart and the older of the 2 has had health problems lately.  There was something wrong with his leg but doctors couldn't figure out what is wrong.

Wish I brought more clothes

I broke out of quarantine hell and came to visit my 23 yr old son who has been working from home for 6 weeks. I came on Friday night and planned on leaving Sunday morning(today). Im like a different person here, relaxed with my kid and no skids. He said to me last night 'what time do you have to leave tomorrow? Or do you have to leave?' Im running out of clean clothes but I can stay one more day! Unfortunately the skids are gone with BM...all 4 of them for the 1st time EVERand Im missing out on that. I still want to stay with my kiddo one more day.

Whose skid is this?

My son, 25, is a project engineer and has an intern working for him and he is a slacker.  Doesn't turn work in on time, turns in incomplete projects, ignores requests from superiors. Turns out this kid's dad got him the job and the kid's dad is 'someone important' my son says.

They are now working from home and it is Wednesday and my son can see that the kid hasn't even opened the file he is supposed to be working on since last Friday. My son says he lies  about doing things he hasn't done and he is just a compulsive liar all around. I bet he has a step mom who is so proud!

I hate all skidlings mine and yours

I sometimes think StepTalk is not good for me.  I get so many negative feelings.  I get so angry reading the stories of these awful, disrespectful and arrogant skids.  I feel such a sense of community and understanding here but I have so much negativity toward my skids and then I read stories of the skids that everyone deals with and I get extra angry.  I've logged out a few times and not come back for weeks but then I continue to come back for the community I feel we share that others don't understand.

let's talk about swearing, what is appropriate?

SS13 swears too much in my opinion.  He has been home(as all of them have) for 6 weeks and Im so sick of his mouth.  I am disengaged so often I speak 0-10 words a day to him.  Sometimes I speak just to be polite if we end up in the same room.  All of the kids 21,17, 13 and 11 swear but I feel differently about SS13 and his constant tourette's like mouth.  He has ADHD and maybe Asperger's undiagnosed but even DH is starting to see that he has many symptoms of Autism since I make him watch tv shows with kids with Autism.  He is seeing the connection.  Anyway he swears a lot and it has become

SD17's kind hearted deed

Chmmy's picture

SD17 has a friend whose aunt does nails for a living and is struggling financially right now, so out of the kindness of SDs heart SD and her friend went over to the woman's house to get their nails done.  OK DH, do you really believe that SD is worried about her friend's aunt or she just wanted to get her nails done?  SD was gone from 830am til almost 2pm, getting her nails done.  Quarantine is over in this house.  DH isn't even trying anymore and neither am I.  It's a losing battle but if I get sick again, I don't want to hear how SD17 is uncomfortable because I'm sick and could get her si

Stimulus payments

Does anyone have kids or skids who are age 17-23 in high school or college that work and file taxes yet are claimed on either parents taxes?  For age 16 and under the parent who claims the child should get $500.  For 17 and up even if you claim your child you get nothing.  I'm wondering why SD17 got $1200 and SD21 and my niece who is 18 got nothing...both work and are claimed by their parents.

Sometimes good things happen to bad people

According to Sd17, the new requirement for graduating high school is 3.5 credits in English/language arts instead of 4. Covid saved SD17. I believe that was the class she was failing in Feb and she got a 70% on a project or test and that brought her grade up buy still failing. Now she told DH she didn't need to pass English so she gets to fail and still get the money she feels so entitled to for graduating'.

Sometimes things fall in to place for the wrong people. She also got $1200 from the stimulus through some sort of loophole. Her dad claims her and she shouldn't get anything.

Were SD and I just nice to each other?

I'm normally 'afraid' to do laundry in my home.  It causes conflict with SD17 to the point that I wanted to piss on her laundry.  Not my finest moment.  I started washing at 630am so that I would be done by the time SD even gets up but 3 loads takes a long time so she was waitng to do laundry (she works at 3 so I didn't do my 4th load to get out of her way since my unessential self is not working and can finish later).
