Perfect holiday, not

That is the last holiday I'm paying for ss to go on.

He was a general pest , didn't want to do this that was bored. Then the jury is out of whether it was altitude sickness, or his general greed, I'm talking eating a for sleeve of salami a day, as a snack in-between meals... but lo and behold we paid a fortune to get to the top of europe, had to rush him back down, and on route he managed to projectile vomit over all of us and a horrified bunch of skiers.

Cringe

7 year old dd has become very inquisitive about why her brother has 2 homes and 2 sets of folks in particular. Blah blah when can she meet his mummy etc? Yea not gonna happen kiddo. If I grit my teeth anymore they will fall out.

So as part of disengaging I take her away a lot on my own. Last week we were flying back in and this guy takes his seat next to us and immediately says hi and starts chattering. Turns out to be incredibly engaging and funny. Him and my daughter end up being the entertainment for those around us.

So a mutual acquaintance just couldn't wait to tell me (eyeroll) that bm has been proposed to a few days ago whilst on their holiday. I am genuinely ecstatic! Not for her though obviously:) for US. Dh , his parents, and myself. We all hated that she retained their family name, after all she put him through in the past. And I personally hated that I've had to share a surname with that woman the last 5 years.

Wishing everyone a happy new year firstly! Hope you have a great 2023

Last night did amuse me. We haven't seen ss13 since about mid December. We were away for Xmas, then bm booked, deliberately I think, to take him away from the date we returned. Hey ho.

It's just teenagers?

That's what my friend said...well, I'm not so sure.

It was my birthday last week. Ss 13 arrived and just acted weird to brat all day.

He can clearly see my opened presents and balloons, banners, yet he ignores me and says to dd7

'Where were you elves this morning '

'Playing in mummy's present pile, look! :)'

'Oh right' (crickets)

It's mummy's birthday:)

'I know!' Eyeroll then crickets.

I have been having a clear out recently. I found in the loft a series of my framed travel prints from my photography days. A few in particular really bring me joy. so I decided to ask hubby if he'd mind if I put them on our rogues gallery in the kitchen.

As an example one is a photo of a tiny vietnamese baby all rapped up in neon coloured tribal woollens, grinning up at/ in the arms of her mother. mum's cheek is half in the frame so you can see her beautiful earring, and the crowsfeet of what u can imagine is a beaming smile. That kinda stuff.

Dh birthday went well

Which is a surprise to me as much as anyone!

His bday is actually Wednesday. I was literally going to plan a gathering this coming weekend to include ss , dhs parents and brother Sil etc. They are just as slack as ss.

Ss waltzes in Thursday night and Says 'dad mums told me to tell you that we are away next weekend for (insert stepdads names) presentation...

I hope dh finally does

This morning dh texts ss 12 that he is on his way, for contact as usual

Ss texts back I'm going on holiday dad, didn't I tell you?

So ensues this very uncomfortable text ping pong , in-between dh calls to me upstairs ... no you haven't been told, I can assure you. I monitor bms emails and ss messages myself. They both love to brag about their plans all the way to end of 2023, this holiday was NEVER mentioned.

Dreading this trip

Just a vent really

Since we took ss 12 long haul a few months ago he has suddenly morphed into full on teenager. Skipped all his contacts (scheduled nights and weekend stays) bar 2.

He did turn up Tues night, but had a face like thunder n scowled at Me when I asked how his day was

This was after dh read him the riot act Sunday ( when myself and dd were away mind you ) for having some more important thing to do with friends , typically on dh time.

Fathers Day

Ss had chosen to go to a football tournament this weekend, according to a recent email from bm. Whatever, Thursdays contact i made sure I stayed out the way ,coz no I was not providing a card or present to get him in the good books.

Ss text dh happy fathers day, which I thought was even more rubbish he couldn't pick up the phone and/or say sorry I didn't give you a card!

We pulled off a nice bbq for dh and his family. Sil asks me in the kitchen where ss is , at a tournament apparently, eyeroll. 'Oh what a shame you'd think he'd at least want to pop In ?' Apparently not.
