No catchy subject line, just plain ole good news to report, fellow steptalkers.

Husband is stepping up. Toxic Troll is stepping back. SD16 has been ditching one class in particular. Has not been doing her school work.

Scary Halloween at home aka "the key to my heart is missing"

So, this past weekend was a myriad of things. Firstly last week, SD16 SMPS approached Husband and wanted to do "chores" so she could "earn money" for her Halloween weekend. She needed ca$h for a costume and friends bday party. We stayed home mostly because funds are low.

She washed a few dishes a few evenings during the week. 3 times.

Its now SD16 SMPS week with us.

She used her little girl voice as she always does when just back from her mother Toxic Trolls visitation. My bad, I wanted to say hello, how are you...just to set the tone for the week as a positive one.

She told me labout school (unasked) "uh huh" was my response. "hmmmmm. Cool." Im not going to waste time typing out all the details. Just not interested.

Then...drumroll....

OT Tooth Saga

Went to the Dentist, as a new patient, and check in was easy, xrays were easy, it was all easy.

Good news - no infection.

Bad news - severe inflammation and locked jaw. He put me on antibiotics for the inflammation. It was all expected and commonplace. October 31 Monday is the soonest appointment after 8 day cycle. LOL.

Toxic Troll BM went to parent-teacher conference. Met with principal. I stayed out of everything, and told Husband "Im happy to be a sounding board, but I am staying out of everything. If you offer info because you want to talk about it, I wont ask anymore questions."

The upshot is" SD16 SMPS will go to Saturday school 'Until Absences are Made Up'. Ok, sounds good I will not track this nor will I provide transport.

No rest for the truant...money dont grow on trees...(edited)

So, this morning, as Im getting my coffee, I decide to go outside and check the mailbox. Inside are some bills and one envelope from the skids high school.

I knew it was going to be something bad...and I opened it. It was a Truancy Report. Apparently, parents can get prosecuted for their child's truancy? WOW. Oh yeah and an absence was reported for yesterday (Oct 17).

And the Angels started to sing...

The gray skies parted to sunshine and blue skies, the harps are tuned, and SD SMPS popped out of her room this morning, said "hello" & very quickly we chatted. "how are you and how are you".

She had put away dishes from dishwasher and put more dishes inside dishwasher. Made egg salad sandwhich and asked me if I wanted some. Made a sandwhich for Husband, and herself, and even toasted the bread for mine.

Is it Fair?

So as an update to Baby steps part 2.

She decided not to bring up Saturday School. Its an optional program whereby if you have absences, one half day at the school (doing homework or missed assignments) on a Saturday will make up one day of absence.

SD 16 Snotty Mcpoutersulk (thank you!) has 8 just in September. Supposedly because shes "sore" from the move and was allowed to stay home. Anyway not my circus to manage. Except this "soreness" is leading Toxic Troll the Disease Chaser, to want her to go to Dr for multiple tests including lupus imaginaria.
