SS10 Visit
SS10 arrived on Saturday for his first two week visit of summer. DH drove the 8 hours roundtrip to BM's to get him. DH said that BM wasn't home at the time of pick-up so GF handled the exchange and instructed DH on SS' medication for his throat issue in case we need it. A friend of DH and I texted us to let us know about BM's engagement, saying he saw the post on FB. He is FB friends with BM and GF so he can keep tabs on them, since BM and GF used to use FB to trash talk us once upon a time. According to him, they made a big to-do about their engagement.

Always In Control
Some of you may recall from my last few posts that BM took SS10 to the ENT due to chronic croup; again something we hadn't heard about until it was a critical issue requiring a specialist, and now is supposedly a major issue, just like the "sensory processing disorder" and the pin-drop sized mark. BM informed DH a week ago that according to the ENT, SS has some esophageal issue and they need to do a throat biopsy and scope. Whatever.

BM & GF Got Engaged
We had our twice weekly Facetime with SS10 tonight. We asked how his weekend was. He didn't really say much, then smirking, he said "We had a party." DH asked SS what the party was for. SS smirked again and said "It was an engagment party. Mama and GF got engaged." DH said "Congratulations" and tried to move on with the call. SS looped back around and said "They are going to get married Fall next year." DH said "That's cool" and again tried to redirect the call.

Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses
I haven't posted much on this site lately as not much has happened outside of the usual - BM doing nothing, GF raising SS, and us just being the child support ATM with 6 weeks of visitation. BM has started zero drama since March, but it is hard to start drama when DH responds to everything with "Thank you for the update."

What is that about?
On Thursday I posted a blog that BM's GF and SS would be traveling to GF's parents' house 4 hours away. They left Thursday after school, so SS missed school on Friday. BM didn't go with them because she said she was coming to our state to visit her parents... In this post, I went on a whole rant about the double standards because BM would have our asses if I ever took SS anywhere without DH and also the fact that DH could have had SS for the weekend and BM would have been driving right by us en route to her parents, but no, GF got to keep him instead.

GF Literally Does Everything
Lately, it seems like GF does everything for SS. GF is home with SS every night. GF makes sure SS is fed, that his homework is done, takes him to sports and school, takes him to all medical appointments, etc. BM is nowhere to be found. Every time we Facetime, GF is home with SS and BM is gone. A few weeks ago, GF emailed DH, ccing BM, to let DH know that she took SS for his annual physical. GF provided DH with all the medical information. We talked to SS on Sunday, and again, GF was watching SS and BM was nowhere to be found.

OT WE CLOSED ON OUR HOUSE!
We closed on our house today!!! We could not be more excited. This whole year has been surreal thus far; welcoming DD in February and now closing on our first home. We told SS10 that we were moving this weekend and his face lit up. He was really excited.
DH emailed BM, letting her know we closed and he provided the new address. She just responded "Sounds good." Oh the irony that starting today, BM has to drive that "unsafe backroad" (aka major US freeway) that she complained about to our new house.

Thank You Steptalk (and are we wrong?)
I posted my last blog and I received a lot of feedback about SS having to walk the fine line between DH and BM. I thought about it long and hard last night and I agree. SS is in an impossible position and while we try to make it easier on him, I still don't think we are doing enough. We are trying to maintain such a firm boundary with BM (that is definitely needed), but we are also hurting SS in the process.

SS Went Home... But Wow
We had a nice weekend with SS10. We hosted SS10's birthday party yesterday with family and friends and had a really nice time. SS did great with DD, although we did alter the sleeping arrangements to ensure he got enough sleep. This morning, SS even wanted to feed her a bottle and did a really good job, which we praised him heavily for. We offered for him to take some of his birthday presents home, but he declined, saying that if he took them home, they would disappear. He hugged us all and told us he was really excited to come back this summer.

SS Visit Update
So SS10 arrived yesterday after the ridiculous drama with BM. DH reported that there was no issue at pick-up which is good. BM did email DH after pick-up, informing him that SS had OT yesterday morning due to his toewalking issue and what was originally a sensory issue is now a reflex issue... okay whatever.
