I realized something last night...

I was sitting on the couch, shaking my head at BM's idiocy. She is ONCE AGAIN making really stupid financial decisions. She and her DH just got rid of their two cars (that they were still paying on and PROBABLY upside down on) for a single 2012 Dodge Durango - her DH has a company car, and they COULDN'T AFFORD two car notes. Which is fine - if you can't afford it, you can't afford it. But if you can't afford it, you get the smallest, most gas-efficient used car you can, not a brand new humongo gas-guzzling SUV.

Our BM has a pretty lazy/entitled attitude toward working. She couldn't/wouldn't hold a job when she was married to DH, did pretty well when single and having to support SDnow16 and her other child, and started getting fired again after marrying her sugar daddy. DH thinks that's because she saw work as an "extra", not a necessity, and did things like maxing out her sick days early and being generally unpleasant.

For the STalkers in Louisiana, I'm sorry.

So I belong to a Louisiana dad's website, because BM and SD16 lives in LA - and that's where custody and CS are set. The following is an email I got from that site today. LA Steps, I'm sooooo sorry. Non-LA Steps, be glad you don't live there!

When asked at the Ascension GOP meeting about the MARTELLO case, LeBlanc professed ignorance on the first circuit court of appeals decision.

This infamous case should be well known to all those who practice child support law as LeBlanc does.

What with SDstb16 (1 week) acting like an idiot lately, and using the excuse that "but you would be so disappointed in me" for why she couldn't POSSIBLY tell us what was going on even AFTER she was busted, there were some heavy-duty conversations in our house over the break.

It's Christmas Eve

And for once, I don't have any complaining to do.

My mom is coming here (a 90 mile drive) because she would rather spend Christmas with me than at home alone (her first Christmas without my dad since 1964)or even with her kids visiting.

DH is writing one of his college midterms, and interrupted himself to ask me (all worried) what he could do to help me get the house ready - he didn't want me to get resentful that I was Doing It All.

Well, the mental hospital was a bust.

While DH did talk to the social worker (who was WELL aware that BM beats and screams obscenities at SDstb16) and told her that we see ZERO rebellion, defiance to rules, backtalk, or depression, she insists that this episode is ALL SDstb16's fault and "she needs to work on her relationship with BM." She refused to believe that maybe, just MAYBE, SDstb16 is acting out because she is so stressed at home and grasping for any "love" she can find.

SDstb16 has pulled another one.

BM is nowhere near vigilant enough with her. SDstb16 was busted over Thanksgiving for sleeping with a 19yo (she says) or 20yo (I think) dirtbag. SDstb16 grabbed her mother's iPod Touch (wtf, BM, keep control of your toys) and was messaging said dirtbag. Now she has changed the password on the device and won't tell anybody, not even DH. We think she's holding out so BM will have to do a full reboot in order to destroy the evidence of what she was talking about.

Disengaging from DH

Maybe I'm just being bitchy, but I want to disengage from DH.

Don't get me wrong, he's a sweet, loving, man. He is fantastic about chores and day-to-day activities. He is great at his job.

In the last six months, there have been a LOT of things he has fallen down on.

The house got hit by a tornado. First estimate for repairs was $80k.

I dealt with the insurance company.
I got the contractor.
I dealt with the bank.

Thanksgiving Sucked

I'm currently in school in Arizona. So, running on Mountain Time, right? I should have just stayed here for the weekend - it all would have come out the same, but cheaper!

I started getting sick on Weds. Ugh, nasty clogged sinuses and ears, and a cough.

You're supposed to be able to sleep in on weekends, right? These were my wake-up times (in MT, although I was on the East Coast Fri, Sat, Sun):
Thurs 1230am - to get the bus to the airport
Fri: 0430am
Sat: 0430am
Sun: 0130am - to get to the airport to come back.
