Our response to the UK social services about SD12's "List of Demands"

lostandalone's picture

Hello all,

As a continuation of the blog I wrote yesterday; below is the letter we sent to social services to be read aloud at their case meeting. We declined to go in person, as we feel whatever we say is ignored...but a letter would have to be read into the offical records.

For the sake of privacy...I have replace the names of the children with the relationship to me and their age. I.e., my biological daughter is BD20.

Everything else I have left as is.

I would like to reiterate...

As an American step-parent living in the UK...

I was surprised to discover that among the many, many, other socialist programs here in the UK...there is one set up for kids who are simply tired of living at home.

Yup.

You heard right.

No child-abuse.
No child-neglect.
No child-endangerment.

Just a kid who no longer wishes to deal with their home or parents...
Kid talks to a school counsellor or to social services...

And...

Voilà!

Instant fix...new family.

No need for the child to face up to personal responsibilities.
Or behavioural expectations.

Probably an unpopular opinion…and an even more unpopular declaration.

This is most likely not going to be a popular post…
And many will probably disagree…
But that is why I said it is an “opinion”.

After reading, and even posting some, on this board for a while…
I was wondering why it is that everyone seems so very overly concerned for the mental, emotional, financial, physical and finally…spiritual well-being of each individual child…than we do of the adults around them???

Basically I guess what I mean is this…

Why is any one human beings life more important than another’s?

New & Unsure...

Hello there all. There doesn't seem to be an area in which my situation fits on this board.

I have been reading here for a couple of weeks, but just not sure if me, and my problems, fit in here anywhere...
