Bratty wants therapy

SO mentioned at dinner last night that Bratty texted asking him to confirm that she was off of his insurance.  Apparently she is freeloading health insurance as Nutter GF's domestic partner, and tried to schedule therapy through Nutter's mental health coverage.  It is through the same provider that SO's insurance uses and they told her she couldn't use Nutter's plan until she was off SO's coverage.  He is going to call today to straighten things out but lamented that Bratty doesn't communicate what is going on in their life.

So....I've been a bit lax on posting blog updates lately.  Mostly because since my early retirement in late January I've been finding a new normal for me, which includes much more outdoor time and much less screen time (and that is a great thing for me!).  But I still have updates from step-life to share, so here we go...

Double Double Toil and Car Trouble

SO finally had has phone call with Bratty McBratFace Sunday morning, which was postponed from the week prior since Bratty said  they 'stressed' due to car troubles.  First bit of good news - at least the call was for a 'normal' day and time (Sunday mid-morning) and not Friday night, Saturday night, or other odd time that falls during dinner hours or date nights.  I went out for a run and they were done by the time I got back, so it was probably no longer than 45 minutes or so and not the 2 our sometimes 3 hour marathon calls that they've had a in the past.

Bratty McBratFace Ghosts Jury Duty

So awhile back a jury summons came in the mail for Bratty McBratFace (SD24).  I know SO told her about this because he even gave her the summons at our brunch just before Thanksgiving.  Bratty made some noise about wanting to serve on a jury since she had 'opinions'.  Nutter GF chimed in with the sage advice to tell them she is a student (how about just change your address?).

So Bratty McBratFace has been saying that their relationship with Nutter GF is 'serious but not exclusive' and proudly emailed around pictures to SO's whole family proclaiming they would be living together.  In short, she has been acting like they are getting engaged soon.  Or are they?

The Gifts of Christmas Past

SO received a package with Bratty's Christmas gift to him (she got me nothing and I got her nothing - and that is totally how I want it).  It was actually quite nice, it was a short sleeve shirt that fit him well and looks good on him.  The note inside was signed by both Bratty and Nutter GF.

I survived!  And it actually went well.

Bratty and Nutter were already waiting for us when we arrived at the cafe.  After some hellos, we sat down.  There was some chit chat before ordering, which I participated in a bit but mostly dug my nose in the menu.  After ordering a vegan wrap, salad and a coffee (and Bratty and Nutter paid for their own food!) there was more chit chat.

Mail Matters in StepLand

Now that the holiday season is in full swing, I seem to get more mail for Bratty and SO's ex (Darth Vader) than I do for myself.

Yesterday's mail illustrates this example:

- For SO - a couple of bills, a couple of college alumni newsletters

- For Bratty - Jury Duty (he he he) - probably because she never changed her registered address so the county still thinks she lives here

- For Darth Vader - about 10 shopping catalogs (she was a shopaholic when they were married and just loves mail order crap)
