Should I be sorry or angry?
Thought I might give you the latest on the boat saga. Last week DH told me the boat still hadn't been repaired and he had written a letter of complaint to the boat repair person- it has been in the repair yard for four months!!
We haven't spoken about it much as you know I wasn't keen on his purchasing it in the first place, so it has been a sore subject. He had a good moan about it (something he rarely does) and said he had paid all that money out and winter is here so it will be too cold to take it out even when it is repaired. He seemed to be making out it was all the repairer's fault that his money is going to waste- I told him (I hope quite tactfully) that yes, the repairer should have got on with it but also he couldn't blame the repairer for the fault- maybe he should have gone back to the guy who sold it to him?
I'm not sure DH has learned the lesson, though- now he says he will repair it himself, although he has no time in which to do that or any experience of boats.
I even felt sorry for DH- he is such a pushover, should I feel sorry or angry that he threw that money away?
I would add that no money of mine was involved in the expense of this thing- but I do feel the best thing to do with this boat is to cast it adrift and hope it hits an ice-berg. Cue... music from Titanic and get out your tissues!
neither.... it was not your
neither.... it was not your money....
I would actually gloat and tell DH - next time think before you buy crap, neither of us are boat people.. sell the thing on ebay and hope you break even. Then remember, people who buy boats that needs repairs, are people who can repair it themselves and flip it for profit.
or have a ball repairing it yourself, you have the whole winter ahead maybe flip it later and make a profit...
I swear I would laugh out loud and tell him, DH my honey bunch... I want nothing to do with your stupid ideas and money lost...
while I count my money on the table... }:)
Ha ha- thanks Acrat- as usual
Ha ha- thanks Acrat- as usual a perspective that made me laugh. Because it wasn't my money I refrained from asking about it- and was surprised when he bought it up- he clearly needed to tell me but didn't get the response he was after maybe. It is all his fault.
When he bought it he wanted to do up the interior, though when he thought he'd have the time to do this I don't know, but I think he 'broke' it the first time out. It is 40 years old for heaven's sake.
I am certainly not spending the winter down there, and neither is he if he has any sense- e-bay is a good idea though.
I have certainly not been angry, because it isn't my money and you know, I have just discovered a pension pot I'd forgotten I had- so yes, I am certainly counting that money on the table while he throws his money down the drain...
you probably told him about
you probably told him about the hidden treasure discovered... that's why he's yupping about the boat... hoping you will pay for the repairs
Hey! That hidden treasure
Hey! That hidden treasure chest is well concealed- DH will never find that old map where X marks the spot lol!
oh you have one of those
oh you have one of those pirates as well..
hell mine would not even find the spot marked X with a new digital GPS map...
KARMA is visiting your DH.
KARMA is visiting your DH. Enjoy and say nothing, because you have no $$$$$ invested.
Myself I would not go out in the boat, you probability of getting stranded is high. LOL.....
Some lessons are difficult to swallow, especially when it comes to $$$$$ invested. He probably could have bought a nice boat for the $$$$$ he has invested.
Stay on dry land.
Thanks Sammi- I would love to
Thanks Sammi- I would love to have had a great holiday with the money he spent on that thing- but hey ho! I know DH has been a reckless spender in the past, but I thought after meeting me he would realise I knew how to handle money. If the lesson has been learned fine, but I doubt it. Most of our savings are in my name, so if he ever asked for a cut you know what my reaction will be? 'Look at my feet, do they look webbed?' and then waddle off lol!
LOL.....Men and their toys!

We spent all summer refurbing
We spent all summer refurbing the garage so he could have a 'train' room. It was finished weeks ago but how much time as he spent in there?? Nada, zilch, zero. They are so predictable!
