DH, Taxes and BM - Once again she's off the hook.

stepmom31's picture

So despite DH getting BM to sign a notarized statement agreeing to pay her share of taxes on $$ received from a lawsuit settlement on formerly jointly owned property, he doesn't want to hold her to it.

The 1099 is in his name only. But he has proof that she collected more than half the money, and agreed to pay her share of the taxes!!

Mystery Doctor Bill

stepmom31's picture

So I'm like a detective, my mind doesn't rest until the mystery is solved.

The mystery is:
1. BM claimed she paid for both kids at the doctor, plus medicine.
2. She said she threw the bills out.
3. Insurance claims show for one kid only.
4. When called on it, she immediately found her way to the doctor's office and got 2 bills, one for each kid.
5. DH knows the doctor doesn't always play by the rules and sometimes won't charge, since they've been with this doctor since wayyyy back when DH was pretty young and poor.

SS11 - "They gave away my big house..."

stepmom31's picture

SS11 said something this weekend that really showed me that these kids just don't understand much.

We were talking about baby stuff - esp books - that they have here, that was kept for a long time, that my baby now uses. He pipes up that they had a lot more and it was given away - books, toys, clothes, our big house...

THE BIG HOUSE, huh?

SD and school

Last semester the kids did terribly in school. DH took a turn on them and insisted on them bringing grades up. In addition, he paid a visit to SS's school and had a conference with the teacher. Teacher did not even know that SS's parents are divorced, and that he's with mom only during the week. At that point, teacher said SS needed to focus more, do his HW and turn in assignments. He had not turned in assignments for 6 weeks for one subject! DH also gave BM a piece of his mind because of this.

Has anyone in FL managed to have an existing CS order revised according to the new guidelines that became law in 2010/11?

See this:

Just wondering...

Under this new law DH definitely will have to pay less.
1. We have them every weekend instead of EOW, so > 20% time.
2. BM will not be able to claim income as ZERO.

But I don't know if it will apply to Modifications, instead of New Agreements. :?

Pissed off BM

SO sent an email asking for copies of receipts that BM paid for doctor's visit and medicine, and she replies all in a huff because she threw them away, and thinks he should just pay ALL of whatever number she calls instead of his half.

According to the insurance records too, she lied about the amount paid, but she'll probably be able to get the doctor to write her a receipt for the amount she's claiming since she's known the doctor for a long time.

Parenting Styles - "Chinese Mom" vs "Western Mom"

stepmom31's picture

Thought this was an interesting article, as I'm building my parenting ideas... since getting 2 stepkids and having a daughter and another baby on the way.

http://www.cnn.com/2011/LIVING/01/13/chinese.mom.superior/index.html?hpt=C2

All racial/ethnic stuff aside, looking at the IDEALS only, which are you, your spouse and the ex-spouse?

A. a "Chinese mom"
B. a "Western mom"
C. somewhere in-between?
