OT - 3 Wives in <5 Years

lieutenant_dad's picture

Look, I am certainly not someone who should be acting as the Marriage Police, but can we all agree that being engaged to Wife #3 after being divorced from Wife #2 for less than 6 months, who you were only together with for 2 years and got engaged to 6 months AFTER divorcing Wife #1, is probably NOT smart?

Especially with 3 kids?

Who are all under the age of 8?

With the littlest not even in kindergarten yet?

And you're only 30 years old?

"Asking" kids to do things...

lieutenant_dad's picture

Need some opinions, because DH and I were on opposite wavelengths about this this weekend.

I was raised that adults don't ask kids to do things. They tell them and, out of politeness, say thanks after.

So, that is the approach I take with the SSs. If it's dinner time and I need them to help set the table, I just tell them to. If I need them to take stuff out of the dryer, I tell them. I have zero issues with them doing things when I tell them to, they don't seem to harbor any resentment, and I thank them after.

"I still need the money for the trip..."

I FREAKING CALLED IT!

If You didn't read my last blog, short version is DH gave BM $200 for a myriad of things, of which over half was for the SSs to participate in a weekend retreat with their church.

BM says, in front of me last night, "hey, I still need the money for their trip."

DH: What do you mean?! That is what the money I gave you last time was for!

BM: *sheepishly* That was just money for their book fees...

OT - Knee Pain from Exercising

lieutenant_dad's picture

So, in early to mid August, I pulled out my back after working out at the gym. I know the exactly what I did wrong, and it has been heckly since then trying to rebuild strength and stop the pain.

Well, I have managed to stop the back pain, but now am suffering from knee pain. It's the same knee that I have partially dislocated before, which means that leg has always been weaker (I was young and dumb, and didn't do my PT correctly). That side always hurts more after working out, and my trainer has me doing special stretches to help alleviate pain.

Let's start with the good: BM got a job. Now, whether it lasts remains to be seen, but I'll take the wins where I can get them I suppose. It's a physical labor job in the field that she is trained in but hasn't worked in for 10 years because she "couldn't physically do the work anymore". I'll remain hopeful, however.

BM wants to switch the weekend schedule...

lieutenant_dad's picture

One of OSS's best friends has an opposite visitation schedule as OSS. This has, apparently, caused issues with OSS and Friend being able to hang out.

Or, at least, this is how it has been relayed from BM to DH.

Assuming this is true, BM's solution to this problem is for us to switch which weekends we have the boys with her. DH didn't see a problem with it either.

Thank GOD he actually talked to me about it, because:

BM Logic: Pets before Paying Bills

lieutenant_dad's picture

Apparently BM had wanted a certain type of pet for many, many years. Somehow, she has acquired not one, but TWO, of these said pets.

Good for her, right? Well, sure. If she had a job. And she weren't complaining that she can't pay her bills. And if OSS weren't asking DH to take him to go buy undershirts because BM doesn't have the money.

SERIOUSLY?! You can't pay your utility bills, but you get TWP GD EXPENSIVE-TO-KEEP PETS?!

You can't go spend $20 to buy shirts for your kid, but you can manage to feed two pets?! Because you've "always wanted them"?!

OT: I hate working from home...

lieutenant_dad's picture

Like REALLY, REALLY hate it.

Our building had a major, all-floors-affected, water leak over the weekend. Our office space is pretty much destroyed, electronics fried, ceiling tiles collapsed, standing water - you get the picture. Optimistically they expect everyone to be back next week. Realistically? I give it a month before we're even able to get in to do inventory, much less work.
