The Almost

Zippy Free week that was!!!

I decided that since summer was coming and job prospects for the Zipster were dim-that I would take the first week of June off whilst Zippy was in school full days and this past weekend he was at BM's (as most of you know Zippy never leaves the house, more specifically the basement-I think he is part Vampire like his BM!).

What a great rest from the constant video gaming, fake guitar thumping, yelling and screaming downstairs (into his video conference gaming!)it was! I wish I was like DH and this would not bother me in the least- Sigh....

Train Wrecks

After numerous heated discussions with DH-I have decided I will just watch Zippy the Train Wreck. Not much else I can do, DH seems to think Zippy will come around to getting with the program on his own accord.

Snarfing Zippy

I have a petty annoyance that I am at my wit's end with. Zippy16.5 crawls out of bed after DH wakes him up at 7:45AM (mind you he has to be out the door for the bus at 8:00AM)-first thing he does coming down the stairs is sneeze then the whole 15 minutes while I am reading the paper Zippy sniffles-loudly-. I have asked him to please blow his nose rather than horking and sniffling like an old man (he is too lazy to blow his nose)as it is unpleasant to hear a snotty nose sniffling while having breakfast.

Step Talk Opinion

I would like to know what you think, as SP's , you have given up because of living with or marrying a man or woman who has children. I am looking for things that you think you have given up not because of normal marriage issues but because your spouse has children and an ex who is (or in my case isn't) also a parent of his or her children.

Here are some of mine:

The LOOOONG Weekend

I am glad to be back to work for the rest! As some of you know Zippy16.5 idea of the perfect long weekend is to sleep until 1pm or 2pm-get up and make a loooong leisurely "breakfast"-eat said breakfast ON the living room couch watching cartoons until 3 or 4pm the X-box his brains out until bedtime-repeat performance ALL weekend.

WELL -I told DH that I could not stand another weekend of this behavior and SOMETHING must be done-here's how it went:

Fiday night see above.

Mother's Day

Endora's picture

Like Blabb-Zippy16.5 did not get his Mother anything (made or card) for Mother's Day, even after DH mentioned to Zippy on Thursday night that it was Mother's Day. At almost 17 years you would think Zippy could read a computer calendar (paper calendars all over the house are ignored). Unlike Blabb (who appears to have some manners) however-I got the same big no acknowlegement for Mother's day same as Zippy's BM (at least he is fair)-(my two BS sons took me out for breakfast and I got flowers).

What Is Your Top

Stepparenting complaint?

Here are some of mine (that we are working on):

Children are quite proficient relationship saboteurs when they want to be. (even unconsciously)

DH is so scared that Zippy16.5 will desert him that DH won't discipline Zippy appropriately.

DH dotes on Zippy 16.5 like he's his wife. (this thankfully is occurring less).

A new stage

Just got back from a girls weekend at my sisters (I sure did NOT want to come home for some reason)!

Just to recap-DH and teenage SS (Zippy16.5)-had a nice weekend together. Zippy totally ignored Daddykins all weekend and went out with, GASP, a friend his own age!!!!! :jawdrop: and no real spoiling that I was aware of went on (other than Zippy getting his beloved XBOX back, as predicted, as soon as I was out the door).

What is Single most profound thing

Endora's picture

You have learned as a stepparent?

I was sitting in the Dr.'s office this morning and she had a poster on her waiting room wall about Things People Have Learned in Life from 5-85 (my personal favourite was from a 7 year old who learned from life that "Goldfish do NOT like Jello!") It got me to thinking about the single most profound thing I have learned about my decision to take on, full time, when he was 14-SS Zippy 16.5.
