O/T - Am I "Out of the Woods?"
At what age is a baby considered out of the woods for SIDS? My baby has started this thing where she will roll over onto her stomach while she's sleeping. Sometimes, it's as soon as I lay her down, so I can see it and correct it, but sometimes she does it in the middle of the night. Should I be worried?

OMG. Someone talk me down, please.
I got to talk to DH tonight, and I'm slowly being sucked back into step-drama. Damn it! I don't want to be. I no longer have any income, and even when I did, we only lived paycheck to paycheck - mainly b/c of the ammt. of CS he pays. He is absolutely convinced we can save up for a lawyer.

SS's toys -or- Why did you agree if you didn't want to be bothered?
The Plague has made it perfectly clear on numerous occasions that she has no intention of ever letting DH see SS again. We live in CO and they in GA, so doing pro se is out, and at $5000, we can't afford to retain a lawyer.
SS's toys that DH got him Christmas 2009 have been sitting here unused since then, so DH finally decided that he should send them to SS. DH, of course, is deployed, so I got the honor of handling it.
Not step related - breaking point reached
I commented on another blog not too long ago that if I talked about my DD10 and the problems I'm having w/ her right now, she would remind you guys of your skids. I know this is not step-related and I appologize, but I am seriously at my breaking point with this kid. I'm ready to fucking strangle her. My dd has been acting out a lot since right before my DH deployed, though it has calmed down significantly in the past week.

O/T - 401k legal question???
Ok, I am my father's only heir. Today, he called me and asked for my ssn; I have complete trust in my dad, so I give it to him, but then I asked what he wanted it for. He said he was leaving me as the beneficiary of his 401k (he doesn't believe he'll have much longer to live). About 15 min. later he called me back and gave me all his log-in info as well as his ssn so that I could log in to his 401k account b/c "when [he] dies, [I] can just log in and transfer the money into [my] bank acct. w/o having to go through" the 401k company.

O/T - Birthday
My b-day is coming up. Assuming he actually deploys on the day he's set to (these things can change up to the last minute), DH will miss it by 3 days. Really, though, this won't be anything new. XH and I never celebrated my b-day; for the year and a half after I left XH and before I met DH, I didn't have anyone to celebrate with, so I didn't; since DH and I have been together, something has always seemed to come up on or right before my b-day.

O/T - Babies and cat food.
I think the two main types of pet people out there are dog people and cat people. I like dogs, but I'm definitely a cat person, and have almost always had a pet cat my entire adult life. When my DD10 was a baby of crawling capacity, she *loved* to locate the cat food and play with it (and eat it - yuck!). We lived in tight quarters back then, so there really wasn't much in the way of options for hiding the cat food. Plus, it was my dad's place. He doesn't like cats at all, so there was no option to put it up higher; it *had* to be on the floor.

I typically try not to hold what happened before I came along against DH
But today, I'm pretty ticked. To re-cap, my ss is special needs and my DH beleives it is the result of FAS. Add to that a lazy BM who refused to potty train him until he was almost 5 (then she had to or he couldn't be in school) and would lock him up all day long because she didn't want her soaps interrupted . . . *sigh*. Ok, I really feel sorry for this kid, his BM is a real POS, but it has finally made a direct impact on my family here.

We got the decision back from GA child support enforcement (DCSS) today. Not in our favor. Basically, they say that having a new baby is not considered a significant change in circumstances because it was not beyond his control. As his income also has not changed, he does not qualify for a modification. If he still feels he should be granted a modification, he will have to go back to court.
