O/T - Babies and cat food.

I think the two main types of pet people out there are dog people and cat people. I like dogs, but I'm definitely a cat person, and have almost always had a pet cat my entire adult life. When my DD10 was a baby of crawling capacity, she *loved* to locate the cat food and play with it (and eat it - yuck!). We lived in tight quarters back then, so there really wasn't much in the way of options for hiding the cat food. Plus, it was my dad's place. He doesn't like cats at all, so there was no option to put it up higher; it *had* to be on the floor. So, about once ever few days, when DD found the cat food, I'd pick up the mess and move it again.

I thought this was just my older DD being oddly fascinated. Nope, turns out there's something of a trend in this. Baby DD has been crawling for about a week now. I think it took her all of 3 days to locate the cat food, and now every time she thinks I'm not looking, she makes a bee line for it. I guess I should be releived - at least baby DD doesn't eat it!

My 3 older kids did this and BS1 does it now. I think it's a pretty normal fascination for babies/toddlers.

....LOL. You wanna know what's worse in my household...?

Me and my sister used to be responsible for feeding our two cats (which we begged our parents to adopt) their wet cat food.... well, we'd lock ourselves in the bathroom and eat half of the canned food (always the pate ones, the fish ones were smelly)... I still remember it, we must have been 7 or 8 at the time.

It was tasty! I promise!

Solution: Start strategically placing broccoli and other notorious veggies in open cat food cans. If she still goes for them, then maybe you've started a great new habit!
