Never cease to be amazed
My H's phone started blowing up with texts yesterday afternoon. It was Puke, of course.
Puke wants daddy to find a home for her cat that I guess has been living in the garage for a while now. She evidently is feeling bad for it since Puke isn't paying attention to it. She wants it go to a home where she can still see it.
Oh, this is a crock. She doesn't give a sh!t about that cat. She just doesn't want to take care of it any more. Now daddy is expected to take care of her problem. I'm sure she was hoping it could come here.
H asked his mom if she would take it since she has a bunch of barn cats. She shot that down immediately and got upset. I don't blame her. She asked to help bail out Puke too many times and is getting tired of it.
H told Puke he would ask around if anyone would take it but told me that it would not being coming here. He wasn't going to put Ms Kitty through that with all she's going through.
H called Puke last night to see how she was doing and make sure she wasn't upset with him. Wow! Just wow!
I said nothing more than hmmm and changed the subject every time he talked about it.

At some point they will as
At some point they will as they have a couple other dogs. They may not say so now if asked but it will happen. It's their MO.
Cat came before the dog and
Cat came before the dog and has lasted the longest before being re-homed. Dog will be re-homed at some point because I hear bits and pieces about how the dog is. MIL has told H to never let the dog come here. Once the dog is gone, Puke will end up with another animal.
Exactly. Totally
Exactly. Totally irresponsible of BM. And NOT DH'S problem to solve.

I know it well. I'm sure she learned it from BM just like my SD did.
What I have started doing is making comments how I want my DD to be a responsible, independent lady so I am treating her as much. If I don't treat her that way, I'm sending her a message that she can't do or be xyz. DH is starting to get the message. Can you ask him what kind of person he wants her to be and start some sort of thought process?
I have tried this many times.
I have tried this many times. He puts on the helpless hat since Puke is with BM majority of the time he doesn't think can do anything to change Puke. Plus he doesn't want to upset Puke so rescues her.

You can tell alot about a
You can tell alot about a person by the way they treat animals.
My fiance and I do not like cats, we are dog people but cant have a dog right now. Neither of us wanted cats, but when we moved there was one that had apparently declared our garden as its home. And then we were handed a sickly feral kitten. I do admit, these two are mostly outdoor cats but they are ours and we are responsible for them.
Locking a cat in a garage, or any confined space, is cruel. They are a roaming animal, they need to be able to explore for their own well-being, some are more social than others but they are still a domesticated animal and need a level of human interaction.
Shameful behavior, Puke is growing up believing a pet (and any animal really) is a disposable item.
