SO and Halloween
BM asked for the kids on Halloween it falls on SO's week and there is nothing in the CO. He ignored her request and she sent a text tirade over the next 24 hours how she's going to take him back to court and he'll never see his kids again. He ignored her.
I pointed out his normal pick up day for the week halloween falls on there is no school which means his pick up time is 9am. BM did everything she could all summer to keep him from getting them at 9am. I expect she will have her dad watching the kids and he's king asshole he will refuse to answer the door and or refuse the pick up which will lead to SO calling the cops and charges of custody interference. Which is all fun as far as I'm concerned these people deserve some slaps upside the head with the law books. However, SO can't really afford halloween costumes, I won't even be home on Halloween, my oldest is working and my youngest is old enough to trick or treat alone. So I suggested he trade BM tell her if he can get the kids on the Thursday (instead of Friday) after school, she can get them on Thursday (Halloween) and keep them since her time would start on Friday.
He's pissy, doesn't want to. He wants to just ignore her and on his friday pickup get them at 9am and damn any issues BM or her family try and he will "figure out costumes, don't you have any from when your kids were younger?" no, no I don't it's a waste of space, I don't have time to make costumes either, and no I will not buy them costumes.
What's the frustrating part he starts a tift with me over it and guarantee in a few days he will decide it's a great idea and there will be no apology for being pissy with me.

Ss8 is wearing his pjs and a face full of grey eye shadow and foundation to be a zombie
We are all being zombies this
We are all being zombies this year. My youngest is going to be a school boy zombie and wear a pair of his ripped school pants. My daughter is going to be a fancy masquerade zombie and wear an old dress with a disheveled mask ad the other two kids haven't quite decided what type they'll be.
My daughter is always something creative while the boys tend to lean towards the Jedi / superhero etc. this year money is tight so I'm really pushing the zombie thing.
This is also the first year that Halloween fall on exh's time een though he usually comes per to trick or treat with them for a while and see them in their costumes. Maybe this year, I'll help them get ready and exH can pick them up on his way home from work. We have a school event the weekend before (my weekend) that we'll be getting dressed up for too so we shall see.
I'm sorry just b/c he can't
I'm sorry just b/c he can't afford costumes he shouldn't get them for halloween. I mean there are so many things he could do. Like go to a thrift store they have tons! If he cant find one there he can get something that they can use as a costume. Been there done that, I never got cs nor did their dad ever see them I had them 24/7 so I got very creative.
Point is he's had them every
Point is he's had them every year for halloween, BM is going to make friday pickup a power struggle when they can just switch once to he gets them Thurs-Thursday and she then gets them halloween which she wants and he is only ignoring her as his version of a power struggle. No one but him will be here for Halloween and if BM is buying them costumes then I say let her have them and ask for them a day early to avoid Friday no school 9am pick up drama. When I say he can't afford them I mean he hasn't a job or 2 pennies to rub, my own ds is making his costume out of boxes he's been gathering.
I see and agree with your
I see and agree with your point on this one, especially if he has had kids every year for halloween, it makes sense to me to get BM to agree to the thurs-thurs arrangement and avoid SEVERAL dramas.
I don't know why parents don't have holidays added to CO from the start, my SO's CO only addresses Christmas and mothers/fathers day. Nothing about easter or the parents and chiild's birthdays etc etc ends up being an unfair mess and power play!
Halloween was the only thing
Halloween was the only thing forgotten we had birthdays (and the kids) mothers and fathers day even memorial and labor day. But not Halloween.
Your DH needs to get over his
Your DH needs to get over his big, bad self. Let her take the skids for Halloween. What the hell. He can't even afford costumes, so what's the big deal? He should be using it to his advantage so he can look like he's willing to "work together for the kids sake" and let her have a Halloween.
