Ss's body clock is really wacked
One morning it's 5am that ss16 gets up, next it's 11 am. He just cannot get his body clock under control. DH lets ss sleep from 4-8pm b/c he mowed the lawn or went on a run and then as soon as we go to bed he's up for hours on the xbox. DH tells him to get to bed on time and get up at a regular time but ss just does whatever the heck he wants. For the last 3 evenings he has slept through supper, and then eats snacks for half the night. It frustrates me only, really I could care less. BS15 is regularly getting up at 7am this week and next week he'll get up at 6:30.
What bugs me more is that ss did not get a job this summer like he and dh said he was going to do and not even his learners permit. How hard is it to go out and get a permit? Sh!t.
Next summer I am going to INSIST he work or stay the summer with BM. I refuse to have bored sleeping all day long kids hang around one more summer. Not gonna happen again.

Speaking as a casual gamer
Speaking as a casual gamer myself, you have to put down the controllers AT LEAST a half hour before bedtime. Even after you shut the video game console down, your mind is still active and needs to unwind from all the sensory overload.
At 16, my brother and I had three summer jobs.
Wow! Your SS gets up at 11
Wow! Your SS gets up at 11 am? SD15 stays up until like 3-4 a.m. and then literally sleeps all day long will get up for a couple of hours to maybe watch TV or eat something and then sleeps most of the evening. The other night I woke up at 2 a.m. to hear her thumping around in the kitchen making something to eat.. I mean seriously how 'bout eat at dinner time like a normal freaking person. She is going to be in for rude awakening when school starts. Oh well, means I don't have to see her much because she is in her room sleeping most of the time I am home/awake so not saying anything.. disengagement is a wonderful thing!
SS here ... stays up until
SS here ... stays up until 5-6-or 7am every single day gaming and then sleeps until 4 or 5pm when he is forced out of bed. Then he walks around like a zombie, grunting and moaning. It is sooo annoying. I used to bitch about it, but then I figured, it isn't hurting me any, so what do I care?
I took SS14 and a friend to the mall the other night and they were discussing this all night gaming. There are about 10 of them that do this. I asked what they are going to do next week when they go back to school. They both said it will be no problem at all to just go to sleep early and get up early.
Ok, right. I'll be looking forward to hearing DH dragging SS out of bed at 7:30am telling him he is going to miss the bus on the first day of school! }:)
Wow, looks like my ss is not
Wow, looks like my ss is not alone. I know at 16 I was working a full time job all summer and made enough money to buy my own bedroom suite! I was proud of that! Also I bought a couple birds and my mom told me if I own a pet I have to pay for the food. I started babysitting my own younger sibs at age 11 and by 16 was also babysitting several neighborhood kids for extra cash for things I wanted that my parents would not buy. I am so tempted to tell ss16 that from now on batteries come out of his birthday money. Bs15 has his own birthday money he uses to buy little things like his own pop for in his room, etc. Once about a year ago ss19 stole $50 from bs15 and dh had to pay it back b/c we couldn't prove ss took it but it was obvious. I am proud of how my boys are turning out and sick how skids are turning out.
So up all night and sleep all day is the new trend for gaming kids (who get to laz all summer) now?
