The right to disengage step parents comes with a cost
I have not posted for a while. I have had my hands full with caring for one of my grandchildren that recently had 2 brain surgeries. It corrected a seizure problem which was caused by a pre natal stroke. So at 10 yrs. old she has been through a lot and is now doing well with PT every day.
Yesterday a benefit was held for her by friends and family. At least 300 people came to it. DH was wonderful with helping out in every way possible. This is what family is all about.
This is the DH who's own children and grandchildren seldom see him unless he visits them. There has been no contact between them and myself for years. Their choice that I stay out of their father/daughter relationship. And I respect that.
I once was a grandma to their children, and even spent several years taking in and raising some of them during difficult times. It was their decision that I not be involved in their lives. I respect that. They have their own mom, there was a problem of them feeling divided loyalties. I no longer involve myself in any of the situations that happen in their lives.
Sometimes wonder, Do they ever realize the benefit of having "full family force" behind them in difficult times? There is such power in numbers.

Who gives a hoot...really,
Who gives a hoot...really, focus on your real grandkids and forget about the rest. They are too self-absorbed to realize anything.
Nope. They are too wrapped up
Nope. They are too wrapped up in their own selfishness.
