Resolution...Disengagement
Thinking about my New Year Resolution. I think it will be putting into practice all the valuable lessons I have learned from dealing with steps. The last 4 years on Steptalk site has been enlightening. I have gone from Brady Bunch romantic to a real life realist.
I have had to learn many of the reasons behind step actions and reactions. I have had to learn to realize that sometimes it's " just not my problem to concern myself about, and not mine to fix." I have learned to take a step back and let the on coming train wreck speed right on past me, while I innocently look the other way as if I never noticed.
I have begun to notice that many of the traits that are recognized as step traits are really the same traits of some people I deal with every day. I have already disengaged from step drama. This year will be one of putting into practice the same techniques I applied to the steps. To that neighbor that plans for nothing but comes to my door in distress for a ride, money, or in tears and a story of hardship because of your own impulsive spending habits....sorry but not my problem ...Roll on past trainwreck.
To the tenants that are insulted when handed a list of organizations that can help during financial hardship. Returning what was left of the bag of food we brought you, and chastising us for " putting our nose where it don't belong" I will gladly honor your request of " business only " relationship. Today's the 1st. Rent is due. In honor of your request I am starting your eviction. Stepping aside as the trainwreck rolls on by.
