Am I the only one that sees anything wrong with this…?

SS is back for two weeks from the military..ya know....where he rules the superior officers. Lol

Anyway…he only wears his dress uniform, when he leaves the house. He claims that he gets stuff free all the time if he is in uniform. He just called DH to tell him that he got him and BM a free lunch because he wore his dress uniform. Are they even allowed to wear the dress uniform, just to go shopping out to eat? Anyway….I think this is wrong..(if it is actually happening). I realize that being in the military is great and all, but it seems that he is taking advantage of it.

I'm pretty sure the Navy working uniform refers to camis. The Air Force policy is a little more mixed (referring in part to camis and formal attire).

He is not allowed to do that. I was in the Air force. Yes he can were it home (from his base to the plane to his house.) He needs to realize that it is not ok. Yes it is cool to get free stuff but he doesn't sound like he has earned it. let me guess he is fresh out of basic, or tech school right? By wearing the uniform he is putting a target on his back for anyone that is against the war or the military, just like cops that dont were police gear when off duty the military shouldn't as well. When he is sent to Iraq he will learn to have more respect for what that uniform really means.

Can't believe this generation is so freaking used to handouts. So opportunistic and proud of it!

Exactly!! BUT…DH and BM believe that since he is in the military so he deserves it all on a platter now. Even more than before!

I am not bashing the military at all and I am grateful, BUT..that does not make you a GOD in my eyes.

by doing that he is not respecting the people that have died in that uniform. It sounds like your SS is in the military for the wrong reasons. Most of us that have severed, and have been in combat zones will not and do not feel comfortable getting anything handed to us. Your step son is taking advantage of people, he could get in trouble if someone sees him in uniform. You never know who anyone is. If the wrong commanding officer sees him in uniform and starts to ask him questions about what he is doing how long he is home for ect. It could come to bite him in the a$$.

NO, that is not okay. He could be written up for this. I don't know what branch of the military he is in, but FDH said if he ever caught one of his guys doing this he would 'punish' them--extra PT (that means EVERYONE, and they all know it's because of the one person), overtime hours on the few short-days, lots of meticulous cleaning, absurd, exhausting errands.

Honestly, dress uniform is only worn rarely anyway; camis are much more commonly encountered. Also, you get a lot of the same treatment just wandering around in camis. If he's going through the trouble of wearing his dress uniform everywhere, he just wants to show off. I hope a superior officer catches him. His ass will be toast. Most military folks will have zero respect for that, and if word gets around he will never advance.

Ding ding ding!! Sure is.

can I get his number and chew his ass out my self. I was a TSgt in the air force. If I ever saw a trainee doing that they would be on their face and that is exactly what your SS is a Trainee until they are permit party (meaning until they have gone through all the training and are at their duty assignment.). Before they are sent home they get the uniform lecture.

I am sorry but that kind of stuff just pisses me off. It has nothing to do with you or your SO.

Helena---I am surprised at how lax this branh of the military can be. It is NOT the marines for sure. It is absurd. SS came out of boot camp, in worse shape than he went in. lol

helena_brass's picture

Really? Wow. I thought FDH was just being a fathead when he mocked other boot camps. Blum 3

I'm sorry Willow. I'm really, really infuriated by this (him wearing the uniform for hand-outs). This kind of thing really makes me want to see some karma come along.

I think my son in Afghanistan is entitled to freebies more than this kid. Can you call your local recruiters office and let them know what is going on? I would.
DH is retired and asks if places offer military discount. If they do, great. if they don't, that's OK as well.
I would call the local recruiter.

Oh give it a rest. lol. When you write a blog about your situation, then I will take you serious. Until then...you, get a life.

I NEVER wear my uniform off post if I can help it. (I did twice at school because we were doing class breakfasts) When I'm at home, the MOST I will do is stop for gasoline, and THAT'S IT. And my uniform is CORRECT when I'm doing it.

DH doesn't even wear a uniform in to work - he changes when he gets there and before he comes home. He had to do a "hey, soldier" at the gas station once - the punk had no blouse on, no cover, sagging his trousers, T-shirt all untucked...

This crop of joes makes the professionals look bad.
