SS visit
So I survived a 2 week visit with SS. (He spent a few days with BM) I hate to say it but after 1 and a half years in the military he is still the same lying, dirty, entitled, loud mouth, man/child. According to SS, he is in a very easy branch of the military, he is not required to do much and he will NEVER see any type of combat. (that is why he went in to this branch) He does maintenance on a boat.
And DH still acts like an idiot when SS is around.
Random things that annoyed me during visit….(Though I did not show)
1). SS telling the same stories over and over. They always have a different ending. DH even called him out on this once. Even though he did it numerous times.
2). SS talking about BM all the time. Though this time, he did not try to get DH and BM together for random crap.
3). SS playing dress up in his uniform almost every time we went anywhere. And if he did not wear his uniform, DH would let random people know he was in the military so they could “thank” SS for his service. So damn embarrassing. SS and DH thrive on that kind of attention.
4). SS asking for military discount everywhere we went. Hoping to get free stuff because he was in uniform.
5). SS and DH talking about how everyone who does not serve in military, are just not real true Americans and how only military should get off for Memorial day. Not anyone else. ECT…ECT…ECT.
6) Many other things.
What I need help with is a good comeback or something to say when he/they start in about the military and how they are better than everyone else. Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful to the military and think it is a great job. BUUUTTT…they are no better than me or you. They are normal people who CHOOSE to go into the military. Sorry, but most of the people I know, go/went into the military because they were F ups in high school and basically had no choice. (This was why DH and SS went in). But now they are acting like SS went in just to FIGHT for my freedom.
Again, this is not a post downing the military; I just need a comeback to those that down people NOT in the military.

Tell him when he has to shoot
Tell him when he has to shoot his gun in a real fire fight for his life and the lives of others and wants to piss his pants and vomit THEN he can be thanked for his service. Otherwise he's a boat mechanic in fancy clothes.

ugggg. I have an extremely
ugggg. I have an extremely high ranking officer in my family, a brother who just got back from being deployed (he technically could have gotten out of it but "didn't want his dumbass crew killing themselves" I shit you not he said that to me. I have a sister who is a RN that recently retired from the army. My list goes on and on including a nephew who is planning to join the AF and participates in Civil Air Patrol.
Not one of them wears their uniforms anywhere ever. NEVER. I am rather proud of my military family and none have ever claimed a dominance over me or my DH for not serving. Nor have they ever put anyone else down or looked for a handout.

I might go with something along the lines of Oh wow, so all the Rosie's during WW2 weren't real Americans because they only built everything the military needed? The farmers that grow the food now that feeds your military aren't real Americans? The police offices that are protecting our streets Here,the firefighters and doctors and nurses and teachers that have never been in the military aren't Real Amereicans? Gee, I think you should go down to the local firehouse and police precinct and the local hospital and let all those people know that their citizenship should be taken away since the military makes up the only population of Real Americans.
Have they been watching too much Starship Troopers or something?
