Help with missed classes/missing school
MY SD17 continues to miss school. I'm not sure how many days she has missed this year so far. We just got a letter in the mail saying that they approved her appeal process. I'm so fed up with the school system, who keeps approving her appeals every year over and over again.
Last year she missed 100+ days of school-- part of them were only half days, or one or two hours -- There were thirty whole days that she missed between August and May.
SD14 missed 13 whole days and 23 half days last year. She lives with us, but we have only taken her out of school twice. I never even knew that BM or SD17 was taking her out of school. We went in to protest that SD17 should not be allowed to take her sister out of school, but they said that BM had called to say it was okay every time.
Its rather frustrating. We never recieved her report card here because SD17 lives with her mom... And we have never recieved any notice that she has missed school ever. We did set up at the beginning of the year that if the children miss a day there will be a phone call made to the parent the child is living with. So BM knows how much school she has been missing.
What do I do?

It might be too late to do
It might be too late to do anything regarding SD17. But being that she obviously doesn't attend school, why doesn't she drop out? I'm not advocating anyone dropping out of HS, but heck, she's never there anyway and she's just screwing up her school record anyway.
If DH has custody of SD13, how is it possible that her BM can excuse her from school? Isn't DH the only one who can do that? Maybe get another agency involved (CPS?) so they can look into it and find out why BM keeps allowing her out of school. Maybe a judge can order only DH is allowed to make decisions regarding SD13?
We tried to talk to the
We tried to talk to the principal about all the school being missed... We have not talked to a judge or CPS... I doubt it will come to that. BF just wants to pretend like nothing is happening, and so he won't do anything about it. It drives me crazy more then it does him...
BM can take any of the kids out of school and even though they live with us, we technically have "joint custody" which means BM can take whoever out whenever she wants. She can even take me off the emergency list (which she has done more then ten times) So its pretty annoying especially since she did not have a car for about a year, and when she took me off the list, her kids got sick I went to get them and I could not do anything without calling her/ or BF.
It seems like the schools would be more interested in having kids that actually go to class that want to learn... instead of just passing someone who barely ever shows up...
SD17 wants to be a nurse, wants us to pay for some of her college. I'm not paying for anything, she can't even show up to high school.
