O/T - "Tubes Tied" ??
Need some input please.
I have this condition on my legs that I have been to several different doctors about and I have been also told from my rheum that I am to get off birth control pills and come back for more testing in the fall. My gyno is recommending I get the pills also, and his recommendation was a tubal ligation.
My DH and I discussed it and he immediately said he would have a "v" instead, he went to the dr and scheduled it but an 'emergency' came up at work the day he was to have it and so it was cancelled. That was a week ago and not a word has been said about him rescheduling it.
Since Dr wants me off the pills for three months before I come back in the fall I am kinda anxious to get the ball rolling, so to speak
I think I am just going to do the tubal, but then I start looking online and read all kinds of scary things. Can you all share good or bad experiences?

I have had terrible issues
I have had terrible issues since my tubal. What dr's wont tell you is how jacked up your periods will become. I never had cramps or really heavy bleeding until after my tubes were tied. NOW, I have to wear the super plus tampon AND overnight pad to get me through 2-3 hours. Apparently this is common after a tubal.... My cramps are also crippling... Yet another common factor with the tubal.
When I asked why no one ever told me that these were risks, my Dr. said that most Dr.s that preform the procedure just wont mention it.(she was not the dr who did it for me).
^^^^ Same as overworked mom.
^^^^ Same as overworked mom. Don't do it!!!
I had my tubes cut and burnt
I had my tubes cut and burnt 17 years ago and had no problems whatsoever.
I would never. I've heard too
I would never. I've heard too many tubal litigation syndrome experiences. Once it's done it can't be fixed and you can be stuck with those symptoms for good. Could you do an IUD for now?
Your husband needs to
Your husband needs to reschedule the V. It will still be 6 months up to a year before he is totally "swimmer free". DO NOT GET A TUBAL!!
My dr said they don't do the
My dr said they don't do the IUD's, (insurance reasons), so I would have to find another dr to do it. I think DH will do the "v" but who knows when he'll get around to it. Maybe I should just wait, UGH
I had one years ago, never
I had one years ago, never any problems. For those of you that had tubals and then bad periods, were you on the pill before your tubal? I was on the pill, then tubal, and yes periods were heavy, but my Dr said that was the way my periods would have been normally OFF the pill. As you know the pill lessens cramping, and the length of your periods and flow. I was on the pill for so long I had actually forgotten what a regular period was like.
I could never go on the pill.
I could never go on the pill. It gave me terrible morning sickness. Little did I know how bad it would be once I actually got preggers!! LOL
Same as overworkedmom again.
Same as overworkedmom again. Lol.
I tried several different types of bc pill but could not stand the naseau. Then I got pregnant and had morning sickness my whole pregnancy!
My mother had that done, she
My mother had that done, she said she wouldn't recommend it because years later she ended up having to have a hysterectomy anyway. Pointless procedure for her I suppose.
Same thing happened to my
Same thing happened to my mom.
There is another option that
There is another option that my friend got. I want to say it was Esure or Essure, something like that. They put something in your tubes to block them. She had it done right in the doctors office. I don't know anymore than that, but thought you might like to know there's another option.
I had tubal ligation after
I had tubal ligation after childbirth in 1989. No problems at all.
Maybe get the IUD at Planned Parenthood, if they have a clinic in your area?
Its only 3 months....why no
Its only 3 months....why no just use condoms.
Having your tubes tied is major surgery....I'd push dh to get the vasectomy before you jump right to tuboligation.
I have heard of issues with
I have heard of issues with Essure too. But that's what's hard, there are always good and bad with any procedure. Yes, we may just have to use condoms and other methods
I have read of ladies having to end up getting a hysterectomy like myspoon said so maybe I should not to it. Since I have no other problems I hate to create some!
I know DH will whine and milk it, that's why I had thought I would just do it and it would be done and overwith and I wouldnt have to listen to the complaints.
A vasectomy is WAY less
A vasectomy is WAY less dangerous and physically invasive than a tubal!
That's the discussion DH and
That's the discussion DH and I had when we were discussing BC options. He suggested I get "fixed," I told him I wasn't going through abdominal surgery in my 30s when he was a grown man who could get a little outpatient snip and be done with it. Besides, it is an option for me to have more kids should DH die suddenly and I remarry at some point. DH, on the other hand, is in his 50s and already has three kids and swears he will never remarry/want more kids, so it made sense for him to be the one "fixed."
I had the essure coils done
I had the essure coils done in my tubes however it wasn't all roses (I went this route for a huge terror of being put under and essure I could be awake) One of the coils didn't take and is now embedded in the side of my uterus. I'm lucky I have no pain or complications from that but I did end up having to go under while they tired to remove it (only way it's coming out now is a hysterectomy)and to have a tubal on that side.
Other than the coil issue it's all been fine some discomfort and pain after both procedures 3 days more after the tubal than the coils to heal. Kinda wish I'd not been so freaked out and just done a tubal to begin with but I still panic at the though of being knocked out so it is what it is. Then again it was way easier for my exh to have his vasectomy when we were married he had some extra swelling because he did too much too soon, but I only had mine done after the divorce I'm done having kids.
I had the essure procedure
I had the essure procedure too, I had no issues. It was a quick office procedure, I was swollen for a day or two and been fine. I took 1 day off work to get it done and that was it.
My DH also said he'd do the V but that was 2 years ago and its never been done despite multiple times of him saying he would. When I booked my essure procedure he again said he would get the V done, I told him he had until 10 days before my procedure (my latest cancellation time) and he said he'd do it - to which he didn't.
I am tired of BC and want to be done with the pills. So I just took care of it myself.
I had a tubal in 2003. No
I had a tubal in 2003. No regrets, no complications and I'm soooooo happy I can't get pregnant! I'm 40 now and even though I'd love to have a baby with DH, we're both too old and he had a vasectomy years ago too so it would be a downright miracle if it happened!
