Has anyone else experienced bad neighbors?

As I have written in my last blog I live in a duplex and my new neighbors are driving us up the wall. Yelling, screaming, fighting, partying and being rude and scary. It quieted down for two weeks. Then in the middle of the night you hear banging on the wall in SS's room and their dog squealing and a kid crying bloody murder for his mom to stop. I swear on everything I know what the heck I heard and SS and DH heard it too. I called animal control on them. I know once the animal control comes to investigate their going to know we called and come over to start drama. It's been hell. Their either fighting and cursing or partying and we can never sleep. I really hope something gets done for those kids and that dog.

We are staying with my sister for a little while until our lease is up. My sister came over to help us pack and the neighbor woman was being all nosey. My sister asked her if she had a problem and she told her to shut the hell up and went in her house. I feel so much better to be out of there. The next place we rent will be a single family home or we will get a mortgage.

Ugh, I'm so glad that our awful neighbors are in the building next to us and not in our building (our apartment is on the top floor, over a business so no building neighbors for us!) but that doesn't make much of a difference. They spend all summer long having parties on their front lawn and because our landlord is too cheap to update our windows, we can hear everything they talk about and everything that goes on. There's drinking, shouting, yelling, fighting (though a bad fight hasn't broken out since a year or so ago when the cops were called on them), fireworks (which is SO asinine because we live in Pittsburgh, the houses are close together and very close to the street), illegal drug use and sales. Ugh. All in their front yard and, usually, in our front yard if the party is large enough and spills over. Our landlord hates them (they used to live in our apartment) and their landlord just won't kick them out. I'm looking forward to FDH and I moving away some day.

But, I just have to say, I'm glad you called animal control on your neighbors. I had to call an animal welfare group on some people many years ago. They had a little dog that they kept chained up in their yard all the time in the summer on such a short chain that the dog couldn't reach the empty water bowl that they left out for her or get into the shade. They never know who called, though, because they had neighbors on either side and I lodged the complaint anonymously.

Had a very successful drug dealer living below me once. So successful there was a line every night out his door. Called the cops who told me I would have to witness the transactions before they would do anything. WTF?! There was no way I was going to go inside that apartment. Other neighbors called, got pretty much the same response.

So one neighbor had two Dobermans, she started to let them out when the line got too busy. The backyard was fenced in for the dogs. That caused the traffic to die down abit. Then we started to have monthly bar b ques for the local beat cops. Having a fifty cops come trooping through your place of business on weekends kind of put a damper on sales. We found out from the cops that narcotics were watching the druggies hoping to go up the drug chain. The beat cops didn't agree with the plan and since they weren't there in an official capacity and free food was free food they were more than happy to drop by.

Two weekends and the druggies moved. Weird shit

That's actually pretty funny ^_^ I wish my loser neighbors weren't friends with the local cops (the one is a total yinzer for life - grew up here and is probably going to spend the rest of his life in this neighborhood).
