OT: Do Not Read If You Are Easily Grossed Out

Fading's picture

Ok I debated on writing this but I am really kind of worried about it even though several other people have told me it's nothing and it will go away.

DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE EASILY GROSSED OUT DO NOT READ!

So about 2 weeks ago I noticed this small red bump on my right breast. At first I thought it might have been a zit. As it went on it got larger and more painful. It is about the size of a quarter right now. After about a week and a half it became crusty (like really bad dry skin). Last night it started...seeping  and it hasn't stopped since. It is a yellow/brown seepage. I put gauze over it because it has been draining immensely (soaking 1 gauze every 1 1/2 to 2 hours). DH and my mum said it is most likely an infected follicle and is now draining the infection. What I am worried about is where it is at (right next to the areola) and the amount of drainage. I have never had something like this and I am kind of freaking out. Anyone had this before or know anything about these things?

No, but if it were me I would go have it checked out. Better safe then sorry.

Could be a staph infection....which can easily be taken care of with antibiotics. But you should get it looked at either way.

Probably just an infected hair follicle but with the intensity of the drainage...go see the Doc...he'll give you some antibiotics and some meds to manage the situation.

I agree.. it most likely is an infected hair. BUT I would def get it checked out. I would be freaking out as well, it is normal to be out of sorts when something is happening to your body that you have no control over. But please, take care of yourself! Please keep us updated.

I'm going to combine everyone's comments into one. It could be a boil which is a staph infection from a hair folicle. This isn't something that will go away on its own so get into urgent care or ER if you can.

Good luck and keep us posted.

GO get it checked out ASAP! A friend of my moms had the exact same thing, got checked and it was breast cancer. "Venting without the desire to look within and improve your situation is simply venting to hear yourself bitch."

Please go get this checked out...if you have a fever with it is an infection.
