Calm Week Big Decisions
A calm week.
And a lot done.
No SDs since last Friday morning, our off weeks we have Friday night - Wednesday mornings to ourselves. Friday he took me out for an amazing evening yet again.
Anyway, DP made sure to tell me he is going to be all over SD11 about her bathing. He admitted he was pretty horrified at the state she got into last week. I just have to remember to keep my mouth shut about it so he can notice himself.
DP also brought up this morning SD11s attempt to get out of her drama class. Her class is tonight and he was worried that she wouldn't want to go again. And he has to leave work early to pick her up for this class, so it's a waste of time otherwise. I just said, short and sweet, "Well, that's up to you to resolve with SD11."
He paused, and said, I don't know what to do.
Me: Are you asking my opinion?
DP: Yes
Me: Talk to her instructor, find out what's really going on. Sit in on the class and watch. She did the same thing with her gymnastics class she got tired of.
DP: Maybe I'll email her instructor.
Me: Ok, but you know, it's up to you in the end.
And I am not going to be any more involved with this issue at all.
HA! Just got a text that they are almost home, meaning she didn't go to drama class. Not my problem.
And, we are looking at buying a house...in spite of what's here on StepTalk my situation is pretty mild, just some hiccups here and there and usually there's not a lot of drama, just things to work out. Pretty much since I disengaged.
But part of where we end up depends on BM. The custody agreement states BM/DP must agree on middle school location, neither one can over-ride the other. By far, the best school is in our district and SD11 (on her own, totally) decided she wanted to go to the school near us. BM wants her at the (very inferior) school near her. Due to locations and SD9s school schedule, we can make it work if SD11 commutes to our school. However, if SD11 goes to other school, it would be very difficult for us to help her get to after school activities which both SDs will become more involved in. BM help with after school activities you say, HA! LOL! Fat chance. So DP agreed to start pushing a talk with BM about a final school decision so he and I can move forward with bettering our living situation.
Don't worry, I am not involved in this decision in any way other than to support DP and SD11s decision whatever happens. In fact, I am more flexible about location that DP is so this is mostly on him.
It'll be an interesting weekend for sure!

Glad to hear things are
Glad to hear things are working out for you. Fingers crossed you guys keep stepping forward.
SD11 is in shower right now.
SD11 is in shower right now. DP totally followed up even though she was avoiding it for about an hour. Good for him.
Don't know why she didn't attend drama still. If DP doesn't bring it up ce la vie!
SD9 left a whole lot of stuff outside tonight, SD11 told me about it and I said, "yes I know SD11. But you know what that's for your dad to take care of because I don't care about it any longer. If he cares he will take care if it." SD11 shoulder shrugged and was satisfied.
Also td DP he was in his own tomorrow (I was planning on meeting up with them after work) but he couldn't bear them to be in their after school program (you know, for parents that work). They whine all the time about it because they know he will eventually give in. I said to him that they can wait until 5. But got a non-answer so that answered my question. He's a pushover for whining which drives me nuts. So I said "if you pick them up early I cannot join you. You need to make sure that at least "x" gets done and I'll just go straight home." Besides that gives me two hours by myself!!
And THEN SD11 was beggin her dad for a Kitchen Aid mixer for Xmas this year. WTF?! It's MARCH. And she is supposed to be saving up for it (she's all into cupcake making the last year). Her line, "it'll take me forever to save." Yeah, because she does nothing to earn any kind of special allowance or has to buy things 2x because she loses them. DP said if our new kitchen is big enough...I will tell him only I will be the judge of THAT question. She's not turning our kitchen into her factory.
All this in two hours. And no comment from me!
Sally, this kid makes
Sally, this kid makes cupcakes like I've never seen. They are actually pretty good. She's trying to start her own "cupcake business" - good for her. But it's hot/cold. She wants all the stuff to do it, but isn't quite old enough to really understand expenses/overhead vs making money.
BM requires her to pay a % of her supplies (i.e. ingredients), which I agree with. The equipment she's supposed to buy on her own or gets as Xmas/bday gifts.
I also told DP after several cupcake making days that SD11 is now required to either pay a % of ingredients OR he buys them. I can't afford to make sure the house is stocked with various ingredients, some expensive, for SD11 alone.
DP actually avoided saying "yes" to the mixer - but not a definitive "no" either. I'm sure it'll come up again, absolutely. Not. Her. Kitchen.
