DH Spending the Summer With His Kids & Grandkids Without Me

I haven't posted in a long while and I know what everyone on is here going to say. Once again, my DH is spending months visiting his kids across the country without me. This is a reoccurring thing and it is getting to be longer and longer trips. It is now months at a time since he has three kids who all have families and he wants to spend time with all of them.

Another Christmas Without the Skids

Skids don't even have to be around to ruin Christmas. None of my husband's adult kids have visited our home in over 6 years. It's been 7 years since any of them have been here for Christmas. That sounds fantastic, but it isn't. It's like this gigantic elephant in the corner. His kids refuse to have anything to do with me or my kids and Dh pretends like there's nothing wrong with this.

Today we got a Christmas Card from SD and her husband addressed only to her dad. It was a digital photo card with pictures of SD and her brothers as kids opening presents with their mom & dad. Yes we got pictures of their mom for Christmas again.

This is why it's so difficult to be a wife of a widower. Every single holiday has to be about the dead wife. If your SO is divorced, consider yourself lucky.

Why do they always have to call when we're eating?

Skids are worse then telemarketers! I swear, as soon as we're about to eat a holiday dinner one of the skids has to call! It's every single holiday this happens! By now you'd think they'd learn that we always eat in the mid-afternoon and not call then. They have no respect for me, my kids or their father.

SD's wedding

I'm not invited to my stepdaughter's wedding. SD conveniently set the date for during the first week of the school year, so there's no chance I could go. I thought she might just leave it at that, but last night she told DH that if I did attend, she and her fiance would just go to the courthouse and skip the ceremony. That's what SS28 did to avoid the drama, so I wouldn't put it past SD. DH didn't get to see either of his sons get married. SS31 didn't invite him because of issues between DH and the skids' maternal grandmother.

Father's Day

I wish I could go back to the days when my adult stepkids didn't call on Father's Day. Thinking back, I was blessed with incommunicado skids. Now they give DH the gift of 15 hours worth of old home movies transfered onto DVD for Father's Day. Whatever happened to giving a tie?

DH didn't even tell me his kids had called or sent him anything until I griped that they hadn't done anything for Father's Day. Apparently, they called his cell and sent his present to his office. DH didn't say anything until I asked, then he couldn't stop gushing about how great this was.

Excuses, excuses

My husband is away again, visiting his kids back east. This time it's SD's engagement party.

It's not like I'd want to go; the party's being hosted by the stepkids' maternal great-aunt who hates me. Last thing I'd want to do is go to that and no way in hell I'd let my kids go. They don't know anything about the issues with DH's first wife's relatives who despise me.
