Way to go DH!

:jawdrop: So, yesterday was Thanksgiving. I've mentioned before that DH wakes up in a really bad mood on any holiday or important day because of the 12 years of waking up to Medusa on holidays. Well, I never mentioned that his kids normally wake up in the same kind of moods. But yesterday DH woke up in a great mood and he was as pleasant any normal day and that lasted all day long. I guess I have finally proven to him that all women are not the same. However, SS10 woke up with his usual shitty attitude but really made sure to direct disrespect in my direction all day (as is typical on holidays). I had been in the kitchen since first thing in the morning and when we were about to leave SS wanted to show me a caterpillar. His breath made me want to vomit from a foot away so I said, "You obviously didn't brush your teeth this morning, did you?" No response except he ran his tongue across his teeth and went to grab the caterpillar out of my hand. I moved the caterpillar and said again in a more forceful tone, "You obviously did not brush your teeth today, DID YOU?" With no response he walked off. I told DH about this and that was apparently the last string for him. ( One thing he does do well is that if his kids do not acknowledge an adult speaking to them, he disciplines them) Well, DH went to SS and told him, "I guess if you cannot seem to find an ounce of decency in you to show my wife some respect by acknowledging her when she speaks to you, you don't need to eat any of the treats she has made for today." Funny, I was mostly responsible for treats yesterday except the green bean casserole. Everything else I made fell under the treat category. Well, apparently there was a lot of boohooing over this punishment and SS tried playing the damsel in distress card. He told DH, "But Daddy, S (me) usually cooks different things on every holiday and so if I can't try her stuff, that means I probably won't never taste what she made today." DH apparently responded with, "Funny how you obviously know how lucky you are to have S when I tell you that you can't take advantage of the nice things she does for you, but even so, you treat her like a dirty dog every single day. You should have thought about that before you disrespected my wife, and ultimately me." SS apologized to DH and DH told him, "It isn't me you should be sorry to." SS said, "Well, even if I say sorry to S, I still won't get to eat her food." DH said "You're probably right. Because you don't deserve to eat her food and the only reason that you want to apologize is so you can get what you want, not to fix the hurt feelings that you caused and that is why I (he put emphasis on I) told you that you don't get any of her treats." SS threw a temper tantrum and went to his room. Funny, though, he sure is kissing my butt today!!!

Yay for your DH for standing up for you!!!! That's soooo important in this step life!! My SS11 is the same way to me. Half the time I ask him something or nicely ask him to do something.'- he does this stupid blank face crap- then tells my DH " I didn't hear her" My DH has wised up on that & tells him to do as I asked. I'm also happy for you that your DH woke up ready & happy to have you & the holiday!! I love to hear stuff like that!!!!!!!! Perhaps skid will do as asked next time!!

Probably not. Seeing as how after the fourth time I have asked him to bring his bike away from our fence and park it by the house so it doesn't get stolen, I just came home to it sitting OUTSIDE the fence by the road with a for sale sign. I took it across the road and ditched it in the woods and I am going to let him sweat it out when he thinks it got stolen. I was going to take it and donate it to Catholic Social Services tomorrow and just let him believe it was stolen, but I made the mistake of telling DH that. Even though ss has three bikes dh says I cannot do so because I'm "getting carried away". I miss the actual parent that I fell in love with. I guess that was just an act. His son can do as he pleases as long as he says yes maam or yes sir when an adult speaks to him. If not, that is when it becomes a punishable offense.
