Off the rails SD14 delivered by BM who has now gone on holiday

SD14 dropped off at 1.30pm by BM who was rude to me AGAIN (7 years and still no decline in resentment) and then blamed all her daughters problems on DH leaving her, before departing on her holiday on the verge of tears. Classic. Thank God I had a friend over to distract me whilst SD recovered in her bedroom and I waited for DH to get home. On the upside, after an hour of preparation DH and I have had probably the most meaningful conversation in 7 years with SD. There is a lot of work to do and her grounding has just been doubled.

Off the rails SD14 has broken her grounding again. She was supposed to be going on holiday today for 10 days with BM and family, now I have just been told by H that we are now having her for 10 days, or rather I am having her for 10 days as I am the one at home! Nightmare! Can feel stomach cramping with anxiety!

After 4 days of agonising and composing my thoughts I talked to SD14.

I know I know, several of my very welcome comments on my last post told me not to and to leave DH, BM and SD to it. But unfortunately I am a person who can never let it lie. I have had the benefit of a tremendously loving confiding family upbringing and I really struggle to just brush things under the carpet and pretend I have no involvement in what is happening. Plus at the end of the day I feel I’m an adult and she’s a child, and I have a role in how this child turns out,. Ultimately the important thing is that whatever is causing her to act out is addressed.

Struggling to manage feelings and role with SD14 going off the rails

Last weekend my SD14 was caught out for the second time lying and sneaking off to a friends house to get drunk with a group of similarly misguided friends. The friends mother apparantly permits this in order to prevent her daughter, my SD and friends from drinking and camping in the park. SD was removed from the house and grounded for a week when her BM found out she was there the first time, but 2 weeks later foolishly did the same things again while her BM was away and thought SD was with us for a family birthday.
