Teaching Entitlement--Little Things Mean A Lot

On today's "Entitlement" theme:

I'm a big believer in consistency and not sending mixed messages, subtle as they may be, to children in the formative years. I pondered over a phenomenon that seems to be quite widespread over the last ten years or so. That is to hold up traffic for miles while personally escorting your children onto the bus/taking home movies of the event, etc at the bus stop.

The "Snuffleupagus" aka CP stepdad to the three peccories, posted in his FB wall "the most wonderful tiiiiiiiiime of the year!!"

Referring to the fact that the oversized, High F getting underachievers are back in school!!

I was wondering how long it would be before the seemingly long suffering Snuffleupagus would express this sentiment.

I'm sure the BEHEMOTH wasn't happy about this particular post!!

Question For All You CP StepDADs

I've noticed a steady stream of what appears to be disgruntled CP StepDADS on this board.

Seems they are finding out that their DW or CP BioMOM does not discipline within reason/provide boundaries and structure for her biokids.

That she's a total "free ranger."

Have any of you stepDADS asked yourself if this is why the BM and biodad broke up in the first place?

Here are some warning signs that are indicative of trouble ahead:

1. Does your man allow co-sleeping with his children? (aka the kiddies routinely jump into bed with him at night)

2. Does he have to lie down with them to get them to sleep?

3. Do the children seem somehow "stunted" socially? Do they have poor hygiene habis, eating habits, bedtime habits?

4. Does your man subscribe to the "one big happy family" model? (expects you to love his children as much as or more than him)

5. Does your man have the "inability" to say no to his children?

I"m not a big fan of Dr. Phil by ANY means but today, while I was doing the eliptical, I had a whim to turn it on.

MIRACLE O. M. G!!

Dr. Phil was ACTUALLY DRESSING DOWN A PASINATOR BM for trying to turn the children against biodad and his wife!!

And SM said "it really picked up when I became pregnant!"

No kidding! Here we go again. . . BM creating loyalty conflicts.

Now the biodad did make some mistakes, but it seemed to be in response to the BM's PAS.

The constant calling when skids were at biodad and SM's by the BM.

GG has received several pieces of mail, in particular from VD's (SD stb 13) school.

He'll leave them out for ages; I usually wait a week or so then file them. I have to be very "in tune" with GG as if I file it too soon and he has a "bone to pick with me" he'll assume I threw it out.

Well VD's report card has been hanging out for several weeks now; he's probably thinking he'll get another call from the County Counselor for a possible 4th attempt to "reunite" with VD. I have my doubts. He'll be stupid if he does (she's stood him up thrice now) But I digress.
