Germy Stepkids!
I know, all kids are germy, but I thought at 12 years old my stepdaughter would start to get better with A) Keeping her hands out of her mouth and 
Handwashing, esp after using the bathroom. I have to CONSTANTLY remind her to wash her hands when she gets home from school. It's maddening. And of course, guess who came home sick yesterday and tried to be around the baby........sent her little butt over to BM's for the weekend because she refused to listen when I asked her to go lay down in her room if she isn't feeling well. THank goodness DH backs me up now.....unfortunately it really didn't happen until we had a child together.

Omg!!! So it CAN happen if you have a child together?!? I have a SD 10 who barely wipes, so I feel your pain on the germ front. Seriously, sometimes I will use the bathroom after her and if she didn't bother to flush (which happens from time to time) there's pee AND NO TOILET PAPER!!!! Gross! But that your DH has your back now that you have a baby together is the most reassuring thing I've heard in WEEKS!

Im seeing a pattern here with SK's......my SD (12) used to go #2 and not flush and lie about it until a month ago when I embarrased her in front of her grandma and dad by catching her and calling her out in front of everyone. Kind of mean, but it was the only thing that worked, and I was sick and tired of going in there and finding poop sitting in the toilet. She has flushed ever since, problem solved. Yes, ever since we have had our daughter, my husband's eyes have finally been opened to his daughter's sneaky, manipulative ways. Part of this was because I backed off and let him see for himself by letting her screw up instead of helping her out.

Sounds a lot like my SD, who
Sounds a lot like my SD, who is also 12. You would think that, by the age of 12, they would have a basic level of hygiene nailed down. But, no. My SD doesn't wash her hands after using the bathroom, has a hard time remembering to cover her mouth when she coughs or sneezes, hardly ever remembers to flush (and then lies about it being her when she's told to go flush her waste), and, since she's a member of the menstruating crowd now, she gets blood on the toilet seat and doesn't wipe it off.
She's disgusting.
And it's annoying beyond just being gross habits because I have to take immune suppressing medication for a medical condition, so, good hygiene is supposed to be a priority in our household, especially with coughing, sneezing, and hand washing. But, then again, SO sucks at that, too, so, I can't really win :/
While camping with my SO and
While camping with my SO and the Skids over the summer we shared a very large tent. It had a divider and all so the Skids has their side and we had ours. I popped in the tent to grab something out of my bag and was met with a face full of skid marked underwear..ON MY BAG! It was disgusting and honestly even though my SO is very clean I thought they were his. I called him in and he informed me they were SS13's.
This was the chunkiest skid mark I have EVER seen. He might as well have crapped himself. My SO called SS13 into the tent made him grab a few bags and placed them in the bags. The tent smelled like crap so SO opened all the windows and took the top off to air it out. This was in front of my entire family. SS13 didn't care, he thought it was funny actually.

I have the same problem with SD8. After months of washing her *WHITE* underwear (that her GMA insisted on buying even though we told her about the superskids) that were covered in 3-dimensional piles of turd that cannot even be confused with the common skidmark, and telling her father to handle it, I finally told her I was not washing them anymore, and any I found were to be hand washed by SD8. I found one pair snuck into laundry, brought it up and hung it on her doorknob. Found another pair hidden behind her TV. Those also went on doorknob. She has yet to wash her pile of nasties, but have not had a pair of sludgewear this week, so hopefully this solves the problem.
I am horrified to think about her getting her period, which will happen in a few years. I have a small stockpile of bleach, so that should help.
What is with all of these skids who have no concept of wiping, washing, or covering their mouths? My skid also has her fingers in her mouth for HOURS everyday, literally every time I look over they are planted in her mouth and she wonders why I don't want to hold her hand during prayers or crossing the street! The sad thing is, I have a 6 year old who has better hygiene!
