SD12 Puts Cat in Microwave!!!
This happened at BM house but we were informed about it. We have an older dog here at our house that will try to get next to her so she will pet him. She pushes him away and I think she has done something to him while we were not looking because when he sees her now he hides under the kitchen table. I have done some research and read that cruelty to animals at a young age can sometimes lead to violent even deadly behavior in adulthood. I am due to have a baby in September and must say that I am a little bit nervous about SD being around him.
DH thinks I am over reacting but I don't think I am. She has shown physical violence by hitting a boy in the head at the youth center and she and another girl were talking at school about jumping someone else on a field trip. She man handles my SD7 and SS5 all the time. She hasn't touched my BS7 though. Is this an age thing or is it possible there could be something deeper going on there?
No, animal cruelty is not
:jawdrop:
No, animal cruelty is not normal 12 year old behavior. Also picking on little kids is not 12 year old behavior IMHO. I would DEFINITELY be keeping an eye on the baby when she is around the baby, esp. if she enjoys manhandling her own siblings.
I never really saw any
I never really saw any remorse for the cat. When I asked her about it, she kind of smiled. It was creepy to be honest. I tried to sign her up to work at the local animal shelter so she could learn that animals have feelings too but when I told them the situation the woman looked a little worried and said they didn't have any openings. I am a complete animal lover. The dog I have now I rescued 10 years ago and he's like one of my children. So I never really understand people that don't like animals. Especially kids... I thought all kids love animals. I know the other ones do. When they come visit our house they give me and dad a hug and then they hug the dog and tell him that they missed him too.
But I get what you are saying. I never really see remorse for anything that she does. She doesn't feel bad for things, she just feels bad that she got caught and punished. I don't know how to make her see.
The lack of remorse is
The lack of remorse is alarming - get a psychologist involved.
If there's no way you can
If there's no way you can stop her from coming to your home I would definitely make sure that she has no access to where the baby is sleeping at night. Keep your kids away from her as much as possible and the skids if you can. I don't care if she does show remorse or not, she's not right in the head
I'd be scared too! There is
I'd be scared too! There is something evil about a child that is mean to animals.
Um ... what happened to the
Um ... what happened to the cat? Is it okay?
I suppose the cat is okay.
I suppose the cat is okay. SD says she only put it in there for "1 second" but I really doubt that.
WOW !!!!! That is terrible.
:jawdrop: WOW !!!!! That is terrible. I lost my cat 6 months ago.
Me too. Violently and
Me too. Violently and unnecessarily by a 20 something year old kid who probably had the similar beginnings to the OP's SD.
Not to be an alarmist,
Not to be an alarmist, but...
She's 12. Developmentally speaking, she knew what would happen when she put the cat in the microwave. This was not an 'accident.'
When confronted, she tried to cover her tracks, make excuses ("it was ONLY for a second") and downplay the entire incident.
So here are my questions:
*Was she punished for the egregious act? This was animal cruelty- there must have been some consequence for this!
*How did her father react to this?
*Does she exhibit any other troubling anti-social behaviors?
I think it is imperative that she be seen by a mental health professional.
OMG! dare her to tie some
OMG! dare her to tie some bricks to her ankles and swim across a lake~! animal cruelty is horrific, i think offenders should be treated as if it were a child they were being cruel to....
i couldn't even look at that brat with out ripping her a new asshole....
get a nanny cam and when you catch her in the act, call the cops and send her ass away! you have a baby on the way and it soundslike she is going to HATE it.... little bitch....
Oh yeah...Watch her like a
Oh yeah...Watch her like a hawk around your baby...I have always heard that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat their mother and the way they treat animals...be very cautious...
OMG! I'd put her in the damn
OMG! I'd put her in the damn microwave! Or at least she'd wish I had after I'd got done with her! Did she get punished for this?
I mean, my god! 12 years old?? You gotta be kidding me! I am shocked... I'd say it's normal for a kid her age to beat up on their siblings a bit (key part "a bit"), but not on animals.
"NO ONE wants to think about
"NO ONE wants to think about their child like that"
van der sloot, case in point..... his mom is in denial, big time! wonder how many little animals he murdered as a young one.
Something similar to this
Something similar to this happened in my area awhile back. Somehow teachers found out that a couple girls had put their pet gerbil in the microwave, unfortunately longer than a second but it did survive. They ended up pressing charges against them (they couldn't have been more than 14) and they had to do community service. IMHO, I think you should seriously consider pressing charges yourself. Hopefully, she'll learn her lesson, and maybe even be a bit embarrassed by her behavior. These poor creatures need a protector!
nanny cam! catch her ass red
nanny cam! catch her ass red handed and press charges!
Oh, when I found out about it
Oh, when I found out about it I flipped a lid. I'm not really a "cat person" but they are still innocent little creatures that cannot fend for themselves. I grounded her, took away her ipod, computer and phone. She was allowed to go to school and come home and that's it. To be honest, that's all she ever really does anyway. I can't say that she has any real friends. She had one but apparently something happened. After the grounding (1 month) was over she asked if the friend could stay the night. The friend said yes but then called back an hour later to say that she was grounded but then I saw the same friend out playing on the baseball field with a bunch of other girls a little later that day. Note that SD12 was not included and that was supposedly her group of friends out there. She never gets calls here from her friends and is NEVER invited to stay the night at someone else's house. She always asks if they can stay here. All in all she's a very odd kid. She dresses like a boy most of the time and has little to no personal hygiene skills. She has no organizational skills either. She literally folds her homework up and puts it in her back pocket. She has absolutely NO feminine traits at all and most definitely has a weight problem. DH tells me he thinks she's going to end up being obese for her lack of activity and love of junk food. She hordes candy in her room. I find wrappers all the time. I don't even know where she gets it. To be really honest, after getting to know her I'm pretty sure she's a homosexual. I think hubby thinks the same thing but won't admit it. SD was listening to Kelly Clarkson once and I said I think she's a homosexual and DH got all defensive until he understood I was talking about Kelly Clarkson not SD. I don't really have a problem with the lifestyle, I have a few gay man friends. But I do know how hard it was for them growing up and figuring it out so I'm definitely not looking forward to that stage.
Either way, she had no right to microwave a cat. It's scary behavior and I will definitely be keeping an ever present eye on her around my baby. If I see ONE thing that will be it and I will no longer have her in my home. Thanks for everyone's understanding and I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that that is probably one of the worst things a child could do.
I don't like suggesting
I don't like suggesting diagnoses on remote, but can I suggest you get a thorough medical/psychological review, because there are quite a few signs she might be on the autistic spectrum and need some support.
