OT - Forn Friday
'Forn' is 'food' and 'p0rn' combined. For those who are cutting carbs and dieting... this one's for you!!
Let's talk fruit. Pure, unadulterated FRUIT. Fruit is delicious. Fruit is nutritious. It can quell your sugar cravings. But did you know that fruit is sexy?
GRAPES: Plucking a firm, grape off of the stem, tossing it in the air, catching it in your mouth, and crunching your teeth through the firm outer flesh so the sweet juice squirts all around your mouth......
BLUEBERRIES: The heat of the sun on your back as you bend over to pick the berries straight from the bush. A couple of handfuls for the bucket, then a small handful for you: sun-warmed sweet flavor fills your mouth and you lick your purple-stained fingers.
PINEAPPLE: Ouch! Just pricked your finger on those prickly green leaves sticking out of the pineapple when you grabbed it to slice that baby open. The sharp pineapple scent fills our nose with the first cut. Juice runs free as you expose more and more of that bright yellow flesh. Your mouth is watering in anticipation. Finally! You pop a thick chunk into your mouth and pucker a little from the acidity assaulting your tastebuds. Now if only you had some dark chocolate fondue for dipping...
CHERRIES: Lounging on the couch with a little bowl piled high with fat red cherries. You select one, picking it up by the stem, tip back your head, and place the cherry in your mouth. You curl your tongue around it, close your teeth, and gently tug the stem so it pops off. You bite straight through to the pit, using tongue and teeth to get all the fruit off the pit, which you tuck into one cheek until you finish savoring that tasty morsel. Then you purse your lips, aim for the bowl, and thhpuuut! spit the pit. Next!
STRAWBERRIES: OMG, a mound of enormous strawberries you can smell from across the room. You can't wait for strawberry shortcake. Gotta have one NOW! You pick one up and carefully fold all of the hull away from the berry, grasping it between your fingers. You take BIG bite, half the berry in your mouth, close your eyes, and smile as the sweet tang fills your mouth. Your carefully nibble around the hull to make sure you get all of that deliciousness.
CANTALOUPE: Your mouth has been watering since you left the farmer's market because that cantaloupe has perfumed your entire car with its fragrant scent. You hurry into the kitchen, plunk it on the counter, and grab a big knife, quickly sinking it through the rind into the succulent flesh. The aroma seems to float around you and your nose is filled with the scent. Fingers dripping, you slide the first luscious wedge between your lips and your teeth sink into that scrumptious light orange flesh. It's sooooo good...
PEACHES: Your nose has been twitching since you awoke to the wonderful aroma of fresh peaches, catching sunlight in your kitchen. Mouth already watering in anticipation, you peruse your options and select THE one. You open your mouth for that first bite... the delicate fuzz tickles as you slide your lips around the skin. Your teeth sink into that juicy yellow flesh. It's so perfectly ripe that juice runs down your chin and arm. The pure perfection has you ready to try the impossible: licking your elbow to get every last drop of that nectar.
So... what's YOUR favorite fruit?

I've literally eaten like an entire watermelon for dinner, that was it, and no regrets were had! Lol

I prefer veggies over fruit...
But I guess my favorite is cherries...
I do like apples though because all you have to do is wash it and throw it in a bag and you have a snack for later
I do like watermelon and cantaloupe too but both are a pain to cut up.

Zero, I like apples tart or sweet/tart. And crisp! There is something quite satisfying about the crunch of a good apple.

Watermelon and peaches or
Watermelon and peaches or nectarines. I do something weird- when I was pregnant, I was in the hospital for several weeks and my SO would bring me peaches. The highlight of my day was my shower, and to be extra decadent, I'd take a peach with me (in a bowl or big cup) and run the peach under the hot water to warm it up, which made it easier and more pleasant to eat. I often take a peach or nectarine to the bath with me to this day. So weird, but that's my thing.

I can't do any fruit that squishes in your mouth or has a skin. G.R.O.S.S. So no grapes, cherries, blueberries. I love the flavor of all of those things, but just can not eat one. My favorite fruits are raspberries and honeydew.

Raspberries are my hubby's fave. Check out my blog from yesterday. That lime sherbet? Substitute with raspberry sherbet and change the pineapple juice to lemonade. Throw some fresh raspberries on top. Also, look below for the sherbet drink.
avocados, sprinkled with salt
avocados, sprinkled with salt and a heavy dose of lime juice squeezed on it. you slowly cut from pole to pole with careful, tentative moves and twist to reveal it's inner beauty, that beautiful, moist flesh. you take your time working with it, lest you bruise it, and lovingly put on the final touches. you bring your mouth to it and touch it to your tongue, tasting first the bright saltiness on the outside, then the buttery cream fills your mouth. after you swallow, you can still taste it, which makes you deeply yearn for another large, luscious mouthful.
