Struggling with my decision to leave my partner.
Hi. First time ever posting anything but I could do with some advice. Please be gentle lol. Ok here it goes...I have been with a girl for over 5 years now who has 2 children. I get on great with the youngest but the last 6 years with her now 12 year old daughter have been a nightmare. I have tried and tried but she has absolutely no respect for her elders and even disrespected her mum constantly. I know I've made mistakes but I have tried to resolve these issues. I also know that part of the problem has been a lack of discipline on my ex partners side. We argue constantly over many issues regarding her daughter and she's started drinking heavily and it's been causing many more problems. I had threatened to leave twice before and she talked me round but I've had enough and to be honest I can't stand being around her daughter. She wants to try again and has made more promises but she has let me down a few times now and I've made the decision to end it and moved out. I still have feelings for her and her other child and I now feel terrible about leaving. I worry about them but I think I'm doing the right thing. I'm just messed up in the head with it all and it's driving me nuts. Am I right in my decision or am I wrong...this is what I keep asking myself. Any advice is welcome...thanks

I've actually left this week but I just can't stop my feelings for her and her son which I've brought up for 5 years. Loving them both just isn't enough anymore with all the trouble that's been going on.

You did the right thing,
You did the right thing, especially if you have NO children...Find somebody like you without kids; there are not many success stories with step kids involved...it is rare-- if you read on this board.
The only thing I can impart
The only thing I can impart is that if you do decide to remain in the relationship, be prepared for NOTHING to change. Don't listen compromises, don't ask her to change. Either you accept what is and be ok with it or move on, she won't be different.
You made the right
You made the right decision... keep in mind, by leaving a 5 year relationship will not make your feelings go away in a weeks time.... but after a month or 3, you will wonder why you did not get out sooner.
I hope so. I've already
I hope so. I've already booked a holiday for myself to just get away for some good weather and to chill out. Thanx.
