So, the kid picked up my bride from the airport in a few minutes ago. I called to check in just as they were leaving the airport. We had a nice talk.

Since it is pushing 01:00 here I said my goodbyes and was getting ready to hang up and crash for a few hours before work in the AM. At which point the skid says "Dad wait. I need to talk with both of you about something. Ummm, ahhhh, ummm, ....... Last summer when you guys got married again got me thinking. Then mom gave grandpa an adult adoption for her. When I was about 13 you asked if I wanted you to adopt me. I said no because I did not want to upset those other people. Well, I am a Rags and I want to change my name. Would that be alright with you?" :jawdrop:

I told him that I was proud to be his dad and proud of him whether he had the family name or not. I told him that he is my son regardless of his last name and that he is stuck with me either way. Then I told him that I would be very proud for him to have the family name.

Fuckin kid made me tear up. Cray 2 Acute DW was just as surprised as I was.

He took the week off to spend with his mom. They are going to get the paperwork for an adult adoption started this week.

Just Wow! That slapped me smack in the face completely from left field.

This blended family adventure never seems to stop throwing curve balls. Just when you think it has settled in to a status quo, the adventure changes.
