On a recent blog http://www.steptalk.org/node/213121 I wrote about my dilemma on whether to let my husband know that he and SS16 were indeed free to vacation with me and BS15 despite his and SS16's ability to screw up plans for the rest of us with their thoughtlessness.

In the end, I did decide to tell him and offer the opportunity. I told him that despite my frustration that they couldn't bother to communicate ANYTHING to each other or me, I preferred his company to his absence. I expressed that I would rather put our relationship before my hurt feelings, and so would he like me to book tickets?

His response?

"I would love to go, but I think you should go with BS15 and spend time together. Maybe this will teach me and SS16 to do better next time."

Well, we did go without them. We even upgraded to first class and my son freaked out over it, he was so happy. We're mid-trip, loving it, and while he takes a nap before we go for sushi, I'm pausing here to admit this feels good.
