Angel Guard (and other things that don't make sense)

Picked up SD today and TADA she out grew her carseat. Not surprising, she's huge for her age, but either way, she has to switch to a shoulder strap soon.
SO I mention that I'd like to get an Angel Guard for her. It's a piece of plastic that takes a second to install over a seat belt buckle so that it can't be undone by tiny little fingers. (DH's brother died in a car accident because he didn't have his seat belt on, so vehicle safety is a huge thing for us) It takes a grand total of 5 seconds to undo it by an adult (Twist left, pop it off that way, twist right, pop it off that way and it's off.)

GBM starts going on about what if the car catches fire she doesn't want to be taking an extra five seconds to get SD out.

I was so tempted to say "Okay, lets say it doesn't matter if the car is on fire, SD is 40 feet down the road because she undid her belt buckle and no one noticed."

But I didn't. Seriously though, it's like if GBM didn't think of it or hasn't heard of it, it can't be right...

Hmm, I wonder if she thinks the law of probability doesn't apply to her. Because I suspect6 more children are killed in car accident (thru not wearing a seatbelt) than car fires. And if the car was on fire at that speed they would probably already be unconcious.

Probably.
She also made the comment today that SD was her baby and BM's new baby was BM's baby.
Ugh. I can't wait for the day there is a CO and they can shove their rotten horrible ideas up their buts.
SD is 3! She's going to undo her buckle. I just pray she isn't in an accident right after she does.

That's what fire fighters, and Paramedics hero knives are for, cut the seat belt grab baby seriously way better than the higher chance of being tossed around unbuckled. Heck I'm sort of short and use a belt adjuster so my seat belt fits me right. If GBM is so worried buy her a hero knife or trauma sheers.
