SS making himeself throw up.
My mom brought over a sunday dinner of homemade fried chicken, oven baked macaroni & cheese, some greens and buttermilk biscuts yum right? well when SS10 saw the plate he immediately started complaining about how much he hates cabbage and how the chicken smells funny. After hearing this SS5 who usually loves my moms greens starts crying about how he doesn't like them. When told to eat he starts coughing as hard as he can. When he starts doing that coughing thing we know it is his way of making himself throw up to get out of eating something because this is not the first time he tried this. So DH rushes him to the bathroom and lets him throw up and sends both him and SS10 to their rooms until they can learn manners and come tell my mom sorry and eat the food she spent her time making. Once they smell my mom's homemade apple pie and chocolate chip cookies warming up in the oven they both run out to apologize. When told their will be no dessert until dinner is finished SS10 goes to scarf down his food while SS5 starts crying hysterically and DH has to take him to his room. SS5 is now sitting at the table frowning with his arms folded. If he does not eat that food will be sitting in the microwave until he gets hungry and no amount of crying is getting him desert and I mean that. My mom thinks I am being harsh and should just make him a hot dog or something. No I'm sorry we do not waste food around here just to get spoiled.
Why is it a three ring circus in my house everyday? These are the moments when I think to myself why couldn't DH keep it in his pants or wear a freaking condom. I know its a bad thought and it comes and goes I'm just very annoyed.

You are dead right! You don't
You are dead right! You don't reward obnoxious behavior with throwing out dinner and making hot dogs!
lmao. eating to much of my
lmao. eating to much of my moms food will get you fat its soooo good. I try but it never taste near as good as hers.
I am so hungry right now.
I am so hungry right now. Good on you for sticking to your guns. I don't know why some kids insist on being so dramatic about everything. I know it's their way of protesting the whole stepfamily situation, and my SS is very controlling about his food as well, at least my SS does it passively and quietly. I used to make my SS a grilled cheese sandwich when he didn't like what my parents cooked when we visited them. Not anymore. He's on his own.
Was it the 'greens' that set
Was it the 'greens' that set SSs off? Or were they rejecting the idea of entire plate? I'd be making them a hot dog, well, when h*ll froze over. I would be willing to be happy somewhere inbetween. As long as they sat down, refraining from whining and making faces eating the chicken and mac n cheese along with a small sample of the greens would have sailed with me.
I believe children should try/sample foods. If I then lern they really really hate that one particular food, I would not expect them to readily be made to it. (I'm talking a few things here and there, not every dish they just don't want to eat because they'd rather eat something else then what's on the dinner table). With that said. If my mother cooked and brought over dinner a small amount of even the of the undesired/disliked dish would be expected to be politely eaten. protesters, table scene makers and self made barfers would be dismissed from the table and sent to their rooms hungry. There would be no pie and/or cookies for them even if they came out and finally sat down to eat.
I just went through this
I just went through this drama with DD the other day. I did not give in and I remember living with my mom a few years and HATING her cooking, I was made to sit at the table by my stepdad til 11pm one night. I went to bed hungry and refused to eat that mess for breakfast so I went without.
I did let DD eat something else the next morning. I am not as assinine as my stepdad.
Omg my dad use to make us eat
Omg my dad use to make us eat what we didn't in the morning too lol. And he use to tell us there are starving kids who would love to eat this so eat! I'm not like that its not even that they didn't like the greens its the way they acted that was just unexceptable in my book. He ate he's mac and cheese and a few bites of chicken but he did not get dessert. In the morining he can eat cereal though lol.
