Kudos To Military Families
The sacrifices they make are incredible. My DS, Awesomeson, will be deploying for 6 months to the Middle East and will be leaving behind his DW and 2 yr old DD.
I will be helping out by babysitting once a week. Its a 2 hr drive one way so it will be an overnight stay for me. Which will be a needed rest away from Chef!
Again, I greatly admire the military families!

Please give your son my thanks for his service.
And thank you, his DW, and their daughter.
Any tips
On dos and donts of Saudi Arabia?
It is a very different place under MBS than it was in the strong
fundamentalist phases. Women drive, do not have to be veiled, can go where they wish alone without male family escort. He just needs to follow the guidance that the military gives him. No need to be worried or to feel unsafe. But... be cognizant of his surroundings and the people around him. I would go with a buddy if at all possible if they get to go out into the community.
Generally Saudis like Americans.
My last stint in Saudi there were more issues with Indians than Saudis. By far.
But overall, it was not unsafe, nor were we uncomfortable there. For the most part anyway.

You are giving your DIL an amazing gift! There were so many times when my kids were toddlers and I was alone that all I could do was cry. There was no help, no break. I was a SAHM and it was just me and them 24/7. A break for even a couple of hours to go to the grocery store by myself would have been amazing!

Thank you for your son's service. You must be very proud of him! Enjoy the time with your grandchild away from Chef!
He will be briefed about do's
He will be briefed about do's and don'ts IF he has not already.
I've been in these shoes with my husband with little little kids. . Best advise for her AND for you is no news is good news. Also, there may be black out times whereby no one can communicate back home. She should stick to her normal schedule. Trust me it helps.
The first week was awful, just awful. THEN I had to snap out of it.
**send lots of boxes to him once you get an APO. His wife should have sat in a briefing regarding what is ok to send and not to send.
Awesome Son
Has been deployed before but this will be the farthest away he has been sent as of yet.
My son's (SS) AFCS will not allow him to serve in conflict zones
due to his security clearances.
His one deployment was to ... Tampa.
A year ago he returned to a US base after 5yrs in Europe.
I very much appreciate your son's service and the service of your family. The ME is not as dicey as it has been. But it is always wise to be highly aware of your surroundings.
