EWWW are you serious????
 I cant stand that my SIL's all over the age of 40 call each other "sissy"!!!!. I of course do not get along with all 8 of my SIL's...after trying for many years, I finally have disengaged from the In-laws. They have been so rude to me and have made it clear I will never be accepted as "family" I was just being nosy on Facebook, so I see they had a night out. One sister posted pics. And the pics had ..."My sissy jane" "My beautiful cousin Betty" "my beautiful neices Mary and Jane". Why must they "title" everyone??? I am very close to my own family but we dont go around..."Hi sissy" "Hey cousin" ughhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

I suspect this may be partly
I suspect this may be partly a cultural thing - I am from the UK, and we are in general quite reserved about this kind of thing - I certainly would never post "My wonderful cousin Betty..." or whatever. Some families have customs about calling each other particular names, which can seem over the top to non family members.
You have disengaged, so hopefully you won't be subjecting yourself to this in person! I eventually closed my FB account, because I disapproved of stuff my SD15 was posting, and neither of her parents seemed to care. It took a while after that before I stopped "snooping" but I feel a lot happier now that I don't.
I am with you Kes. The verb
I am with you Kes. The verb to describe a relative is a little OTT but then no one says "This is my dog-ugly cousin Bob, don't stare at his nose." do they? But then I am from New Zealand and we are with you in the 'reserved' seats. When women go on and on about how fabulous their partner is or how awesome their kids are .... I just think 'OK, what is the kicker? Why would you think other than your partner is anything more than terrific and your kids are just lovable in the extreme?"
My daughter has picked up on the 'sissy' thing. Of course I hear 'sissy' and immediately think of it in the not quite so flattering terms. So this is why I am encouraging my Grand son to say his sisters name rather than the lazy 'sissy'. Also labelling people on FB or other social media sites gives the creeps in society another way to find you.
