Heartburn (Literally)
SD10 has been complaining of heartburn since Wednesday. She is overweight for her age and that day my fantastic husband thought it was a great idea to feed her pancakes, fried hot wings, ice cream, spaghetti with red pepper flakes, and then s'mores. All of which she had seconds. So of course she had heartburn. All night DH basically cradled her in his arms while alternating different medications and water. Lesson learned? Heartburn = Daddy treating me like a baby. Don't get me wrong. She definitely needed to be treated and he properly comforted her. I have no problem with that.
On Thursday, she complained again of heartburn all day. There may have been some residual effects since in children their digestive systems aren't as developed as adults so that's perfectly acceptable. Except for the timing. Unlike my DH, I did not take Spring Break off from work. When I get home around 6pm he usually comes into the bedroom while I change so we can have 10 minutes of catching up with each other about our day before going back to the chaos. I asked him how she was feeling and he said she was feeling sick in the morning but then in the afternoon asked him if they could have pizza for dinner. He told her that we were making baked chicken and she can't have pizza anyway because it will aggravate her heartburn. Miraculously, it cleared up and she felt better the rest of the day. Until I got home. She absolutely hates when we spend time together. We were in the room catching up for maybe 2 minutes (I hadn't even finished picking out play clothes to change into) when she started knocking on the bedroom. DH told her he would be out in a minute. She starts pounding the door. With both hands. And starts crying. So he goes to check on her and Boom! she is feeling bad again. Of course the tears stop as soon as he runs to her rescue though. It didn't come back again until DH and I were in bed after they should have all been asleep and she came and knocked again at the bedroom door at 12:30am. This time he told her through the door that he already gave her the max medicine for the day, to drink some water and lay with her head elevated. She continued to knock and knock and knock and when he didn't answer she wrote him a note chastising him for not caring about her and that she can't sleep because she is in the worst pain of her life. He got up about 30 minutes later to let the dog out, went to check on her, and saw that she was passed out.
Today, he told her that since she has been having such persistent heartburn he is going to feed her bland foods. Which means no spicy foods, no lemonade, no pizza, etc., basically all things she loves. If it doesn't clear up he will take her to the doctor. Again, miraculously she is cured and it hasn't come back all day. Today being pizza night for the rest of the kids may have something to do with it.
I don't doubt she had heartburn the first night. I've never had it in my life, but I also did not eat that disastrous mixture of foods that day. I would probably barf. I do think that she started faking it the next day in order to snuggle and get more attention from her daddy just based on the timing of her episodes. So the question is, how can we really tell when she is really being sick and just being overly dramatic? She has a history of being dramatic so I wouldn't put it past her but my husband thinks she is just a baby and would NEVER lie about being sick. Ugh. I can't wait till Sunday.

Theres nothing I hate more
Theres nothing I hate more than a sick/fake sick skid!! My SD15 gets whatever DH gets. If DH says he has a cold, SD says she has a cold. DH has a torn muscle in his shoulder from work. Now SD says she pulled a muscle in her shoulder.
A girl at SD's school needed knee surgery. The day she came back and got attention SD went to the nurse to have HER knee wrapped.
Of course it was fine by 7:00 to go roller skating.
A girl at school had a bad headache and was getting attention. SD faked passing out!! The principle called me!!
If I sneeze, SD claims to have pneumonia!
Get the picture?? I am so sick of it. So when she really is sick I have no sympathy for her because its usually all a ploy to get attention!!
Oh yeah and heartburn does
Oh yeah and heartburn does suck but I usually take a tums or something and it goes away. It doesn't last for days only when I was pregnant!
I'm 8 months pregnant and
I'm 8 months pregnant and still have never had it! ::knocking wood:: Thankfully DH sees that she is completely faking it and has started telling her to pop a tums and drink some water now. The first night, I can understand. After that? Seems fishy. Also seems fishy that it was cured once we took away pizza night and he stopped cuddling her.
Thanks for the good laugh I
Thanks for the good laugh I just had!!! I had something similar happen the past wkend w my SSs. SS8 had a rash. When SS10 noticed DH & I attending to SS8, he of course started "itching" as well!! Hes our dramatic one, cant stand DH showing affection to anyone but him (including me!)!!
All of a sudden he started scratching his skin, hard. Of course his skin got a bit red from all that. Same thing, DH thought he must have the same rash. Trust me, I had checked all three boys out about 15 mins earlier, he had NO rash!! Lmao. But he DID get DHs attention as usual!!
If you ever figure out how to get DH to "see" it, let me know!!!! Im in the same boat!!
We had a poster on this forum
We had a poster on this forum once whose SD would constantly complain of "stomach aches" when it was time to go to bed. The only thing that "cured" it was for daddykins to lie beside her until she was sleeping. Then she'd wake up in the middle of the night when she realized that daddykins was in bed with SM.
Oooh that didn't sit with her very well. She then immediately developed another "stomachache." They took her to the doctors. NOTHING! She was probably about 10 years old at the time. SM tried everything. Reassurance you name it. When SM finally came to the conclustion that she was faking for attention (stomach was always better when it was time to eat her fav meal), daddykins turned on SM and took the skids side.
I don't know what happened but I think they finally broke up over it. SD would even give SM this evil grin/smirk when daddykins would hug her and she'd be facing SM.
Oh I know that evil grin very
Oh I know that evil grin very well!! SD was 10 at the time when she used to do it to me. She is still an evil bitch!
Thats terrible he took the kids side! She's better off without him and the evil skid!
I would pop a kid in the
I would pop a kid in the mouth for doing that shit, grinning when they get their way. hell no. try and arrest me for Child abuse, it would be one pop and it wouldn't leave a mark...perfectly legal...and I bet the kid wouldnt do it again.
My sd will fake sick for an
My sd will fake sick for an entirely different reason, she likes the taste of medicine!
We have learned to tell her if her tummy/head/etc is really that sore she needs to lay down for awhile and relax that should help it go away. Now my sd is quite active, for her to willingly Lay down is a sure sign something hurts. After a few minutes of laying down she'll get medicine and quiet time for about an hour/hour and a half.
This is the only way we can tell if she really has the aches and pains, or if she just wants medicine that tastes like candy.
Yup, once we took away
Yup, once we took away daddy's cuddling and her ability to stuff herself silly with junk, she is automatically cured. Dad's are so blind when it comes to taking crap from their daughters.
What is it with that age that
What is it with that age that makes daughters turn into mini-wives? It's so weird. The other day she got pissed off because her 5 year old sister was sitting next to DH because he was reading to her. She proceeded to try and push her out of the way and DH told her to leave SD5 alone. She threw a tantrum over how spoiled SD5 is because she gets to sit next to him. Um, this was literally the first time in forever SD5 has even gotten to sit near DH because SD10 and SD11 are constantly fighting over who gets to sit in his lap.
