O/T We love you Davy Jones
Actually this is step related:
Ok, I am really old now. My whole neighborhood knew all about the Monkees, watched the show and played their records religiously. Yes, vinyl!!! While I devoted myself to Bobby Sherman, I know somewhere my friend Leah is sobbing over Davy right now (as am I).
And just to relate it somewhat to ST, I have been reading all the tributes and this little item came up, although it is nowhere near the most important thing about him and his life, still, I guess it happens to the best of us:
FAMILY RIFT AS DAVY MARRIES
WED: Davy Jones secretly married his young Latin TV presenter lover Jessica
Wednesday September 16,2009
FORMER Monkees heart-throb Davy Jones has amazed friends and family by secretly marrying his young Latin TV presenter lover.
The original Daydream Believer Davy, 63, wed Jessica Pacheco, 32, a former singer, flamenco dancer and small-screen host on Spanish/American channel Telemundo, at her family home in Miami.
They tied the knot on August 30 but Davy’s four daughters are believed to have stayed away due to alleged “differences” with his bride, we hear.
The couple met in 2007 while both were starring in a Cinderella pantomime for expats in Florida.
It is Davy’s third marriage – he had daughters Talia, 40, and Sarah, 38, with first wife Linda Haines, and Jessica, 28, and Annabel, 21, with second wife Anita Pollinger.
A pal of the singer says: “They have had a tempestuous relationship. They have often broken up in their relatively short courtship. They had got back together again when Davy announced that they were going to get married.
“His daughters didn’t seem to warm to her but Davy seems to be smitten,” adds the friend.
“I hope his relationship with his daughters – who he loves to bits – doesn’t suffer.”
Davy first found fame as the only British member of pop group The Monkees, who formed in 1966 for a TV series of the same name.

RIP Davy, we will miss you.
p.s. please include your favorite Monkees song in your response if you respond, or what you thought of when you heard: I confess an obscure one is playing in my head, "I Wanna Be Free".

I too loved the Monkees. My best friend and I would play their records. When I heard he died I thought of the "Brady Bunch Movie", when he came out to sing and all the teachers got excited and crowded up front to see him. I always loved that part.
My favorite songs of his are "A little bit me, A little bit you" and "Look out, here comes tomorrow".

Davy Jones: Battered Man
The Monkees’ Davy Jones married his post-mid-life crisis August 30th at her parent’s home in Miami.
The singer and actor is 63 years old and his new bride is 32. None of his children nor his former Monkees bandmates attended the ceremony. Age is the least of his worries. Turns out, his new wife, Jessica Pacheco, likes to beat the shit out of him.
“Davy admits Jessica’s violent with him, but she’s drop-dead gorgeous and has clearly captivated him,” said a source who eyewitness-ed her hitting him. “He says, ‘It’s my life. I don’t want to be alone.’”
Exploding in a fiery rage, Jessica had “punched, scratched, kicked and bruised Davy,” explained the eyewitness.
“She’s thrown things at him. I’ve seen the cuts, seen the injuries. And he never hits her back. He’s just the nicest guy.
“I have a journal she wrote, confessing to beating him. I’m keeping it to give to the police in case she kills him. She once cracked his rib with her shoe.”
Conditions had gotten so bad that Davy’s four daughters recently planned to “rescue” him from her, said the pal. But it never took place because the on-again, off-again pair temporarily split up for six months but then Davy shocked everyone with the sudden wedding announcement.
The pal fears Davy has closed his eyes to danger.
