All,

This came up during SW-19s discussion on turning up the positive vibes with her time with Blabb.

I thought it would be a good thing to get it in to its own thread.

Someone mentioned Tea Parties so I will start with that and add a couple that I have done with my Son (SS) from current going pact to the start of our SS/SDad career when he was 15mos old.

1. Tea Parties.
2. Chasing Ducks around the golf course.
3. Fossil hunting on the S. SanGabriel River.
4. Paddling a canoe around Town Lake.
5. Johnny Quest Adventures at BigBend and Enchanted Rock or any local park.
6. Hiking the the hike and bike trail on the Delaware River in Old Newcastel DE.
7. Short 4X4 afternoons on the mountains in Phx AZ.
8. Hide and seek in the house on a rainy day.
9. Make up stories about goofy stuff during road trips.
10.Play grounds at the park.
11.Playing with the dogs/animals at the pound/SPCA.
12. Visiting a retirement home for activities with the residents.
13. Local festivals (Eeyore's Birthday Party, Kite Festival, Art Festivals).

Anything that is cheap, convenient and memorable for a kid will work.

Feel free to jump in anytime.

Best regards,

I love those suggestions, especially the tea party.

I know that Blabb likes to play volleyball, so I might take her to wal-mart this weekend to get a volleyball and go to the park and have at it.

Or maybe we'll go skating...

My only fear is that Blabb will get bored easily and want to go buy something or play video games. :/

with chalk. I bought a bunch of chalk and told her that the sidewalk was our canvas. lol And boy did we color away! I do miss those times when we did get along. I have a feeling that her mom felt too threatened and started to tell Blabb horrible things about me.

My kids are older now so:

(1) took SD and BD camping several times
(2) boat rides at the lake, skimming the shorelines for "stuff", wakeboarding and riding the tube
(3) DH and I have a crawfish boil every year and skids invite some of their friends over as well
(4) jeep rides / motorcycle rides in the evening
(5) backyard fire pit smores, hot dogs, etc..

This one is not inexpensive but a once in a while kind of thing. Yesterday my BD informed me she wanted to go see Creed again. It turned into mom/daughter deal to a mom/daughter, DH, SD and SD boyfriend thing. I told SD this would be her 18th b-day gift from me. So they play in Dallas on 9-22 and we'll be there.

This one is not so much fun but we have done it - walk the neighborhood and pick up trash or meet other employees and their kids to pick up trash along highways. You wouldn't want to do this with small kids for sure.

Beach clean up is fun, you get exercise, get to play in the waves and help the environment.

We did some of this at the lake yesterday evening. We hit a few shorelines and if I would have had more trash bags I would have attempted the party area. Pretty disappointing to see all that trash.
