Absent BM vent

So we have had custody since August of my 2 step daughters (4 and 5). They are doing really well in most respects. Both are rockstars in school/daycare. They are making more friends now that they have more contact with kids in the area and seem genuinely happy 90% of the time. However, since we got custody, BM has been increasingly disappointing them. She hardly calls, not even during her times set aside in the court order. We have to do all the calling/skyping and DH and I do make sure that they talk to her because we know its important.

Thank you BM for fighting so hard for your children just to give them up. Thank you for not taking your visitation all year and breaking their little hearts. Thank you for forcing legal procedures in two states. Thank you for esencially wasting 9 months of out time and thousands of dollars in legal fees over your temper tantrum. And thank you for picking a shitty lawyer that was so bad our lawyer had to waste her time redoing your lawyers work. Thank you so much, I really enjoyed the 1300 dollar bill that I will end up paying since DH has no money after paying everything else.

So the kids came back Saturday and its been pretty rough. Some of this I attribute to 3 weeks of being with BM, some of it has to do with the latest let down from her household. I'll get into that in a minute. BM doesn't parent, she's a typical absent parent for the most part. On the rare occasions she says no to something, she caves as soon as they wig out. Naturally these behaviors expand into their time here through adjustment. This is easily handled with consistency and usually takes a few days to wear off.

Ughhhhhh... frustrated at the way things have gone this week. DH has been waiting for the final consent order for SDs for 3 weeks. I kept telling him his lawyer should just do it and be done with it, but BM had her lawyer "working" on it. He decided to let her burn some of her money instead of blowing through another grand of ours. Well turns out BM picked a shitty lawyer. Not only did her lawyer fail to complete the consent order for custody, she also messed up her paperwork to wave court ordered parenting class and mediation. She left it with a judge who was on vacation for two weeks!
