OT- Food Storage

Willow2010's picture

Ok…I have recently started “prepping”. Not like a doomsday prepper or anything like that. I just want to get a supply of water and food in case of another hurricane. After the last one, we were without power for 11 days and water for 5 days. It was crazy!! And we were totally unprepared.

Very OT

I just bought a Nutribullet. It is similar to a juicer. I don’t eat enough fruit and veggies so I thought this might help with that. It is amazing the things you think of once you are over 40. lol

Does anyone on here juice regularly? Does it help you with energy? Do you have any good juicing recipes?

Frugal Living

Are you frugal? I know that I am. On some things. Now yes…I do have a few splurges here and there, but I mainly try to get the best bargain for my money.

How are you frugal? Maybe we can get some ideas that others have not though about.

I make my own laundry soap and cleaners.
I only buy meat on sale.

There are other things that I just can't think of right now.

2013

I just got my first pay check for 2013. Really? ARRRGGG. What is wrong with our government?

My household income just went down by over $2500.00 a year. (That counts DH's income as well)

WTH are they spending this money on???!! I am so mad. I really did not think it was going to be this much.

DH problem with my son.

Willow2010's picture

UGH!! My son lives with DH and I. He is 19, works 35-50 hours a week and goes to college full time. He is a HARD worker. Always has been. I do not ask him to do much around the house. He basically only showers and sleeps there anyway. I usually only see him on Saturday for a few minutes before he goes to work.

His responsibilities are to take out the trash on Monday and Thursday mornings. And he has to deep clean the common areas once a month. (He actually pays a cleaning lady to do this for him! Lol) and I don’t care as long as it gets done once a month.

When do skids take responsibility? Or..when do DH and BM let skid take responsibility?

So SS had an “incident” while deployed and is not allowed off at port for the next 5 months. I am not sure what really happened. Imagine that!

SS was ALWAYS in trouble growing up. Many school suspensions for various crap. Barely passing EVERY year. It was one thing after another.

How hard is it to get kicked out of the military?

Willow2010's picture

UGH!! Not to get into too much detail, but found out that SS was put on a class C disciplinary report (whatever that is) and is now confined to his ship until they get back to the states. That means for the next four-months he cannot get off the ship at ANY port they dock at for the next 4-5 months.

And of course the story we got was so stupid that I really have no idea why he got in trouble. Apparently something happened that last time they were at a port. But….It certainly did not seem like an offence that would have this severe of a punishment.

VERY O/T

DH and I are thinking of buying 8 acres of land that is situated about 100 yards from a nice/popular Texas lake. Well, we got it down to what we wanted to pay for it and the realtor sent us the contract. In the contract it states that the seller keeps all mineral rights and all commercial water rights. HUH?
I have looked up a lot of info and it is so mixed it is hard to tell if it is ok to let him keep those rights or not. Anyone have any experience with this kind of issue?

BM is never going to go away. UGH!

Willow2010's picture

We hear from BM more now, since SS is in military and deployed, than we did when SS lived with us.

Thanksgiving Day at about 12:30, BM calls DH. (she calls about once a month now for stupid random crap.) DH did not answer it. She immediately called back. DH answers it because he knows she will not stop. This is the following convo…
