Emancipation in New York State--Has Anyone Gone Through It Before. . .

thinkthrice's picture

Yes, I'm thinking ahead. Hopefully it will be sooner than later should the lovely Dominatrix (SD 16.5) become knocked up and married at 18 with her current on-again off-again male punching bag. Seeing that a simple downward mod took 8 months due to an "unexpected" but highly provable and undisputable emancipation of OSS.

As a side note, CS goes to 21 here without an emancipation event occurring.

FB Posting Has Gone Down by the Girhippo. . .

since it was via FB that I discovered that OSS had emancipated himself and thusly a CS downward mod ensued. I'm sure they've probably tried to figure out who the MOLE is (my faux FB acct) Not so forthcoming anymore and I see they've practically banned YSS from using FB. Probably are on Instagram and Twitter anyway. }:)

Spinoff on the Baby Talk Blog(s) How do you handle it?

thinkthrice's picture

Baby talking at an inappropriate age because:

1. The BM/biodad think it's CUTE and seek to continually infantalize their children
2. The kid senses item #1 and plays it for all it's worth.

How do you handle it?

When YSS was stb 7 he would jump up and down in place and yell "TREAT TREAT TREAT TREAT TREAT" when he should have said "can I please have some ice cream?"

He would also say IMMEDIATELY after being picked up by dad (without a return salutation from YSS) "Can we go to the BLLLLUUUUUUUE store???!!" (meaning Walmart)

Going Through StepHELL as a SM with a Disney Dad and a PASer BFF Holier Than Thou BM is like. . .

being a survivor of some sort of traumatic experience such as a devastating house fire or a burglary.

You can never quite get over it. You're always looking over your shoulder and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Your guard never gets dropped completely and you're always mulling over scenarios "down the road" should they (and they will) crop up.

O/T Had a GREAT visit with BD and son-in-law in Southern PA!

thinkthrice's picture

They are doing great--adopting PA as their own; they're probably 30 minutes from the Maryland border. Had a nice time catching up on the news with them. Visited my grandpets Biggrin

Apparently there's a really bad tick problem down there and so they have to be ever vigilant seeing they have dogs and a cat.

In other news:

It's Official: Prince Hygiene YSS 12, is "ADHD"

Which I think is more or less due to horrific diet, endless video games, no rest/bedtime structure and no discipline.

When I had this boy for a day (when he was 6), he was a completely different person. He didn't seek constant attention, played independently, behaved himself by the end of a day and exhibited manners. But that was because I had EXPECTATIONS of him, whereas the BM and Chef do not. He KNEW my "no" meant "no."

I Miss Maternity Clothes. . .(vent)

thinkthrice's picture

No, not for me; just in general. Call me old fashioned but I prefer the demure, understated look of maternity clothes.

I find today's fashion of wearing skin tight clothes through the entire gestation period vulgar and common. As if to proudly announce to the world: "I GOT KNOCKED UP BY A KNUCKLEDRAGGER!!"

But that's just me.

FINALLY!!!

Took just over SIX MONTHS with two court appearances to recognize (no dispute from the BM) that OSS has been emancipated. OH yes, it was supposed to be a SHHHHHH secret that OSS, just before age 18, moved out of custodial BM's house last August. Oh yes and the BM was ANGRY that Chef knew about this.
