YSS (stb 15) has gotten six unexcused lates--today he sauntered in at 10:01 a.m.!!

And got his first detention last week:

Prince Hygiene started talking inappropriately and was asked to remove his hat and put it in his locker (school rules). He ignored me the first time (no surprise here--the Girhippo raised these skids without any rules).

The second time I asked he put his hat in his book bag.

The third time I asked him to put it in his locker he replied "I can't because I can't see it--it's camoflauge" (sooo droll)

The fourth time I told him that he needed to do it now or stay with me for detention. He did not move.

His peers started to urge him to obey the teacher.

He took his bag with him (I did not see that had it until he left the room). When he returned a few minutes later I asked him to open his bag. His hat was still there.

Prince Hygiene will be assigned two days detention.

Had that been MY bio, he would have been in for a whooping. But then again, Chef/Girhippo's angels have never been verbally disciplined, much less spanked.

This is the kid who, at 6 1/2, was ripping off control knobs on display model appliances in the big box store and Chef would NOT tell him "NO." Just sheepishly put them back on the appliances for Prince Hygiene.

Oh and the ZEROES are stacking up as far as grades are concerned. Virtually no assignments done/handed in whatsoever. Way to start your Freshman year of HS!!

Sounds like a parent needs to give the kid the consequences talk.

Like.. ya know.. I already graduated and got my college degree... If you don't do that.. I'm not sure what you think you are going to live on when you graduate (if you graduate) but at 18.. I know where you WON'T be living and that is with me.

thinkthrice's picture

oh the Girhippo wont mind if Prince is playing vid games in her basement when he is 30. As long as a big fat CS check for him awaits her.

ESMOD's picture

I'm assuming that his CO cuts off at 18 if not in school full time... So, at some point he will no longer be an asset to her right?

Don't sweat it they will pass his precious prince hygenine on, its the new standard of this generation. Don't hold them back, that's not good for funding, pass them on, then pass them onto society and let the world at large deal with them. All he needs to really know is how to sign an X for his signature for welfare and if/when he goes to jail he just needs to decide if he wants to be a pitcher or catcher.

thinkthrice's picture

Exactly! Yep, Chef's whopping CS to the Girhippo is really helping the "learning disabled--other" Prince to be a productive member of society. /s

So his high school achievement so far is being late. Parents need to set this kid straight. Plus I hope your BM isn't thinking he is going to get a scholarship for college. She seems like she is unaware of what it going on. Sad

thinkthrice's picture

No she's completely aware she was laughing about it with her friends on Facebook that she can't wake up Prince hygiene. And also that she wouldn't be bothered figuring out how he can get to school when she works nights

queensway's picture

She is laughing about this on facebook. She won't be laughing when his friends graduate and he is mooching off of her. Must be really hard to deal with this gem of a mother. She sounds like she only cares about herself. Try to not let her get to you. I read the other day on your blog about your kids. You focus on that. You did a good job.

thinkthrice's picture

no worries there. will just be glad when she's off the "payroll" aka massive CS.

Oh and did I mention that she once worked as a senior case worker slash supervisor at CPS? She quit her job at CPS and started working as a waitress at the local casino in order to artificially lower her income to qualify for the New York State free college. Her current husband makes Mega Bucks so it put her over the income threshold

LOL Don't you ever wonder how she can find these men to marry her? My BM tried to date my ex husband one time. He thought she was a nut job. And then he told ME to keep her away.LOL Oh yes the good old days.

Military boarding school }:) }:)

Kidding! Mostly anyways... He'd definitely learn discipline... But it sound like BM and your DH wouldn't go along with that... So good luck!

thinkthrice's picture

would be the best thing for him. Chef's skids couldn't get into the regular military. Their grades are crap and they are overweight to borderline obese. They just do screens and junk food all day long.

DH's ENTIRE family lives off deep fried stuff... My body is used to lean protein and rabbit food! Lol so I understand the stressors there! I'm just grateful they've at least started eating some veggies every so often!

However low grades don't always keep you out of the military... Though if they don't learn some form of discipline they might wash up from boot camp...

OSD couldn't score high enough on whatever test it is you have to take to get in. She took it three times.

thinkthrice's picture

Same here. The military now is very picky about who they let in. In the past, the military could assume that a HS graduate had a basic education, was able to read, write, comprehend, do mathematics, know geography and history outside of May 9th 1865 and the 1960's. Not so much anymore.

moving_on_again's picture

Oh no, OSD was pushed through HS by the administration so they would look good on paper. OSD has very little reading comprehension but it is a legitimate disability. She gets it from her actual biofather (not SO).

ProbablyAlreadyInsane's picture

The ASVAB is the test, some people fail it (day I took it someone got a four) but tbh it wasn't that bad... But point made! Some people aren't cut out for that!

moving_on_again's picture

That's what I thought but I wasn't sure. Maybe the test has gotten harder but I went to HS with a real idiot who has made the military his career, so it can't be too hard.

OSD told EVERYONE she was going into the military and she was all signed up and everything. The recruiter tried really hard to make it happen. She just couldn't pass.
